Splish, splash..
Finally got my underwater digital photography rig put together, a Canon S110 Digital Elph camera and the Canon housing for it, I have about $70 including shipping in both items. I went this route because I couldn't find a reasonably priced housing for my own camera other than the plastic bag ones and they don't get good reviews on Amazon. The camera is only two megapixels and only has a 2x optical zoom but the lens is sharp and it takes good photos. It's also cheap enough to not really be a disaster if the housing happens to spring a leak and ruins the camera. This is basically a dedicated setup that I'm really only going to use underwater and maybe at the beach or other places I wouldn't want to get out my good cameras.

Here is a picture of the housing and camera and a the first two shots taken by my nine year old granddaughter in a local pool. The pool was rather cloudy since it has only been open this week and they don't have the chemistry quite sorted out yet. The second pic has one of the other girls at the pool taking a picture of my granddaughter with an Olympus underwater camera at the same time as she is being photographed and in the first pic it appears that the camera was focusing on the bubbles.

I'm pleased with the setup so far and plan on taking a lot of underwater pics this summer, hopefully under better conditions. I'll keep you all posted.

1. Love all the bubbles!
Looks like fun, especially when you have grandkids the age of yours. If I ever go back to Hawaii I might just get one of these.

3. Where have you been? Making panoramas in the water?
Your gear looks good and so do the photos!
