Flickr set I recently put together.
Edited on Sat May-30-09 01:44 AM by JeffR
These are my entries in a city-run photo contest, or they will be once I spend the next 2 weeks adding them to the Flickr contest pool (there's a limit of 3 per day).

I sent out this link to my cousins, sister and brother just to show the city off to them, so I'll do the same here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/10573337@N04/sets/72157618758249042/

If you view it in slideshow mode, disable the stupid "embiggen" option. The posted original size is 1024 pixels on the longest side.

edit - No such thing as a Flckr thread...

6. Thanks, Tin. There are now over 2,100 pics entered in 13 categories
And there are some obviously weak entries, but some of these people just amaze me. Interestingly, some of the best entries are HDRs, and I wonder how they'll fare. They've made no processing stipulations in the contest rules.

7. Thank you. The more inanimate the subject, the happier I am.
And I guess it shows.

4. Once I saw there would be many photos to see, I put it off til I could fully
concentrate.
And it was so worth the wait.
A wonderful tour, where I ran across a number of photos of yours I know and love, and where the luminous skies and water and birds and architecture thrill me, and where the interspersing of color and black and white keeps me on my toes, a tour to meet your chosen city, where I have never been.

Thank you.
I don't know what the win will be if and when it happens, but you won in my book already.

8. Thanks, Mira. That encourages me a lot.
There's some real stiff competition out there. Submissions end on June 12th with results announced sometime in July. No cash prizes involved, unfortunately.

9. great to have high speed again
So I could finally look at these!

Love them, and was reminded of that picture "When Stone Becomes Lace"--oh what artistry by the carver--I would go to Toronto to see that alone. That is just perfect for the competition (as are many of the others).

10. I'd love to show you that building
along with the Ontario Legislature and University College. I've never seen better stonework anywhere in the United States or Europe.

And thanks!

12. Thanks! Hey, God knows this city could use the tourist dollars.
Since the SARS epidemic, tourism here has taken a nosedive. It's improved, but there's a way to go to get back to the pre-SARS level.

But it's a wonderful city and I'd love to show it off. And tap your brain for some of your insight into photography.

14. He's said to be antisocial to the point of being a curmudgeon.
Something to do with the Leica his parents got when he was 8. They decided they didn't like it and took it back. :(
