I visited the Zoo Basel (Switzerland) last Thursday. Here are some of the over 200 shots I took. I hope I can use some of the shots for the next DU calendar

As always, I'd love to hear your comments. What you like, what you don't like. I used a zoom on all the pictures.

1. I've been waiting for them - and expected a few wonders, and sure enough

you delivered. I cannot get past the favorites to even concentrate on the others. The Hippos, so sweet and so rare !
I think that's the choicest for the calendar entry.

The braided looking butt on the Zebra - a good laugh on a very fine photo.

And Meerkat one is showing something that always speaks to me, when a surrounding follows the shape of the object, like clouds over mountains or bows over meerkats.
I like your monkey as well, of course, the hanging up bear, the baby (pygmy goat?)etc.

You are right, the hippo pic is definitely going into the contest :)

I took a couple of the meerkat underneath the wood. The one I posted is the best. I like how it looks up and the head fits perfectly in the shape.

7. Hippos ---it is utterly special. A WOW moment for sure.

9. It was so funny

first the hippo baby was laying in front of mom. But then it got hot and went behind mom in the shade. I like how the lay next to each other and that mom looks like she is smiling :)

The baby storks are adorable.

I still haven't made it to the zoo! Not entirely sure that I will before the deadline.
