How many of you folks have cats?
I have a theory. Most photography enthusiasts who are liberal also like cats. Most cat people who are liberal also appreciate photography. Most cat people who appreciate photography are also liberal.

Cat people in this group, please identify yourselves!

6. I am definitely a cat person.
Edited on Tue May-05-09 01:47 PM by Blue_In_AK
Dogs are okay for other people, but they're too dependent for my tastes. Presently, I only have one cat left standing, but previously I had four.

Here's Sugar.

I don't know what all that "illegal code" stuff is. I still don't understand Macspeak.

11. Looks like quite a foodie!
I'm down from four to one, as well - a 12 year-old who's supposed to get his teeth cleaned tomorrow. When this one goes, I'll adopt another geriatric from the pound. The last one was incredibly overweight and unadoptable and only lived for a year; I'm hoping the current one lives much longer...

42. Yes, I've become a retirement home for the snaggle-tooth and senile
but the vet bills have got me reconsidering their 'code status.' As an RN, I'm not above slapping a Fentanyl patch on a pet and calling it home hospice.

44. Sucker #2
I'm pretty sure I also have "sucker" written all over me in terms of cats (and to a lesser degree, dogs as well). If given the choice, cats would win hands down for me. My problem isn't with allergies. It's actually a matter of trust... namely self-trust. I can't seem to take care of a plant (I've managed to kill every plant I've owned) so there's no way I'd trust myself to take care of a cat.

45. The difference between plants and cats
The difference between plants and cats is that cats will let you know if you forget to feed or water them. It's a lesson you never forget.

These two, Mojo & Luke who live indoors,

and Pilgrim who came to my back deck as a semi-feral cat several years ago and never left.
(She still has no interest in coming inside no matter how cold it is outside.)

and am somewhat relieved. I mean, it's the cat's choice. He probably doesn't even know what an inside is like.

Ferals are almost impossible to convert. Do you know if he's been neutralized?

23. cats and dolls I think . . .
I have four, all but one is a rescue. Here are pics of three of them. The fourth is an old Siamese that isn't very photogenic anymore. But in her day she was beautiful. At 17 years old she is a bit skinny and sad looking. The youngest is Cassie, the white baby with blue eyes. My son found her as a kitten and brought her home. She is three. Lucky is 9, pure black with gold eyes. Simba is 10, tiger stripped. The dolls are the ones that I make so there is usually a cat around who has to check them out too!

38. That cat's gonna die of its own gravitational field.
It happened to mine last year. On her physical, the vet marked 'extremely obese,' wrote 'enlarged heart by auscultation,' and told me to have her undergo an echocardiogram at the cat cardiologist. I said 'Bullshit!' Months later, the cat was perfectly normal the morning I went to work, and dead and cold by the time I came home at 6:30. Never encountered sudden death in a cat before. I mean, with cat obesity, what are you gonna' do? The only cats I know who have successfully lost weight owe it to their hyperthyroidism.

You know, October is National Pet Obesity Awareness Month? I am not making this up...
