1. It's amazing how strange that second photo seems.
Even though everything in it is recognizable right away, it still hits me the way some of the Hubble images do. Cosmic!

2. It is definitely "out there"...
...that's what I love about cacti in general, they produce some of the most amazing and bizarre flowers.

Some of the bees end up totally covered in yellow pollen -- they're like drunken sailors. They burrow in, sometimes staying in the flower overnight while the flower closes over them, then emerging the next morning when it opens up again. It's weird.
