Sunset in volcanic haze

You can't see the volcano from here because there's too much haze right around it, but it does make a pretty sunset.




And the big picture. Redoubt would be to the far left of the picture. The other mountain right by the sun is Mt. Spurr, another active volcano that last erupted in 1992.

It makes for a pretty sunset. That's a really beautiful scene.

2. No, we only had it over here for about 12 hours last weekend.

I guess they got about a quarter inch down where my brother lives in Homer, but they're coping with it okay. The snow helps.

Here in Anchorage we had about six inches of snowfall right after the ash, but now it's melted and the remaining snow looks really dirty, but spring is almost here and the ash will enrich the soil. We will probably have more eruptions...the last time it went on for about four months and then it just stopped for 20 years.
