Hi guys, it's been a while. I still read this all the time, just haven't posted lately. Still taking lots of photos, but I've been doing a lot of more documentary photos of buildings and construction, which I think most people wouldn't find too terribly interesting.
Recently my wife and I went on a short trip to San Francisco. We were fortunate enough to have really nice weather most of the time; it was only really cold the first morning. I've been to SF about 10 times, but always for business. This time we just did the tourist thing.
Hope you enjoy these!
The first morning was cold and foggy, but it quickly warmed up.
We made our way down to Fisherman's Wharf:
My wife got tickets to this double-decker tour bus that also included a visit to Alcatraz. I had never been out there before and I found it quite interesting. I expected it to be all dark and gloomy -- and some of it was -- but the prison quarters had quite a lot of light streaming through.
The next day we got on the tour bus again. It's one of these hop-on / hop-off buses that does a circular route. It didn't stop too often, however, so not a lot of photo ops during the tour.
After that we got off and rode the street cars down to the wharf so the wife could do some shopping.
My wife would not want me to show this picture of her -- "Why do you insist on taking my picture when I have no makeup on and been walking around outside all morning?" But I think she looks great here.
As the sun went down we went back downtown to the Marriott hotel and went up to the bar at the top, I think the 39th floor. Called "The View", appropriately enough.
The next day we went to Golden Gate Park. It's huge! We were there for 5 hours and just barely scratched the surface. I really wanted to go to the new Science museum, but the line to get in was literally half a mile long. Crazy! So we spent most of our time in the de Young art museum and the Japanese tea gardens.
This is what happens after you spend a few hours in an art museum. You get artsy. A self-portrait.
