Looking for name ideas for a photography business.. Mainly wedding for now but branching out..
My daughter has a budding wedding photography business that she has built strictly through word of mouth through her extensive social network, she is now considering going semi-pro to pro and needs a name that is both classy and catchy.

My first thought was "Virtual Light Photography", she thought that was OK but it's still not quite right..

Any and all ideas welcome.. Thanks in advance.

1. whatever it is
I think it should have her name in it. So if it is virtual photography, so be it, but make it "Smith" Virtual Photography.

You say she already has an extensive social network. I think having her name in it just makes a lot of sense. I would say narrow down the choices to three or four, and then she can ask her friends/clients what they think.

With wedding photography, the website is very important, as is having examples of the work. Wedding photography can be straight documentation or can get really arty. Guess who makes the most money? She should start doing a lot of research on different types of pictures and styles, and develop her own style.

I'm excited for her. I wish her a lot of success. It seems like mostly a "happy" business.

3. Thanks for the input..
She is very talented artistically but lacks the technical knowledge of photography, I'm providing some of the technical knowledge, I've been doing amateur astrophotography for about twenty years now and grew up with a Honeywell/Pentax Spotmatic in my hand.

We're busy putting together a business plan and getting equipment together.

She definitely wants to go the "arty" route, we are considering doing coffee table books of weddings.. Also getting into prom photography, pregnancy documentation and so forth.

It is centered on Canon, but they have a LOT of good threads on the business side of photography in general. You might be able to find something there to help with this and other aspects.
Wedding photography is a a huge topic of conversation there always.

In general it is a site jampacked with smart people that makes me feel relatively unenlightened :).
I have learned an astounding amount of stuff after stumbling over it right before Christmas.

As far as names goes, I would second the part about putting her name in it (I am assuming Fumesucker is not her last name? :) ). She can always add a slogan of some sort to it, to convey whatever feeling she would like?
