Wow. I am pretty excited.
Edited on Tue Oct-14-08 09:29 PM by Maestro
The Photo Editor of Birder's World magazine just contacted me. He wants to feature me in the Field Craft section of the magazine. This is where the magazine features amateur bird photographers. The first photographer comes out in the December 2008 edition and mine will come out in the February 2009 edition. I think I will be the third one featured. I'm stoked. I do not get paid, but it is a nice recognition. One of my photos will be featured along with some bio info and technicals about the photo/equipment/bird knowledge that lead to the photo. I will keep you guys informed.

2. that could be a lot of fun
you could tell them you take all your pictures with, oh, say a Pratika LB2 and a 62mm lens. this allows you the freedom to fly up to the birds and get close

bird pics with that classic camera.

13. No, no, I am sure you used it as a hand me down
from someone who had used it a long, long, time ago before that! :) But heck, the first camera I messed around with was an old Nikon 35mm that my dad bought in Japan when he was on cruise in '71 I think.

5. Careful Maestro...
it might eventually lead to paying photos and you wouldn't want that kind of stress. :)

Congrats and much deserved honor.:bounce: Make sure you get yourself an extra copy to keep safe and one to flip through. Please remind us all when so somehow we can get our hands on a copy too. And though kidding on your being careful stuff like that can lead to photo sales. Make sure you include your smugmug site in your bio.

I have already sold. Thanks CC. It is fun. I should hear by tomorrow what photo they want to use.

19. It takes time.
If you are able to get you site in your bio then the birders will go look and pass it along. That word of mouth can be slow but it does snowball. Then again if you are anything like me you take them because you want to and any sales are a very happy bonus. I knew I would sale pics taken for people (portraits, wedding etc.) but the thrill is always better when it is another photo that is bought out of the blue. Not many of those but every one counts.

I honestly have never seen it on the stands. I am sure it is there. I bet you should be able to find a copy at major bookstores. Thanks

:applause: :applause:

You are definitely 'da Bird Man.' I can't think of anyone who has more patience, a better eye, and fantastic ability to capture the essence of our feathered friends on film/digital. (wow, saying film is like saying vinyl records!)

Maybe you can scan in the pages for those of us who won't be able to see the magazine "in the flesh?" I am so proud of you!!

I moved from having a odd picture here and there in their eNewsletter to the actual print magazine. It is a nice progression. Thanks again.
