1. Those are beautiful...
I would have had to take shots of dandelions if the flower contest had come any sooner.

3. Looks like my back yard. :-D

There's quite a campaign here to eradicate dandelions from Denali National Park where they're considered an "invasive species." Last spring volunteers up there pulled up almost 300 pounds of dandelions, and they're going for it again this year. They don't want to use pesticides because of the other flora and the wildlife. I think they may be fighting a losing battle.

6. Hope someone made
some dandelion wine with all those. Have a friend makes it, pays kids a dollar a bag to gather them for him. It may be a losing battle but at least they are trying and doing it safely for the other plants. I hope they win the war on weeds.

9. not necessarily a losing battle
I inadvertently wiped out the Dandelions in my yard when I was on a herbal coffee kick -- made from the roots. I guess I pulled them up every one! I haven't had a Dandelion in my yard in many years. For some reason, even when I bring in seeds from Dandelions in a nearby town, they don't "take."

4. how did you take the picture?
Whenever I try to focus on it the picture blurrs because the camera can't focus.

5. It's all in the type of lens and how good your camera handles close-up
I used a 50mm lens and focused as close as I could get. Then I cropped out the portion with the flower. That's actually only about 1/4 of the whole picture as originally shot.

7. Weed or Flower?
Is it the difference between a wild flower and a tame one? (Nice images!)
A macro lens gives us a chance to see them differently in either case:

10. I wish I could see it!
I don't know what it is with my dial-up account, ConsAreLiars, but I can never get your pictures. Each time one of yours is on a thread, it will download about the top 1/8 of it, then stop. Repeated "refresh" commands have no effect.

I understand, from people's reactions, that you've posted some extraordinary photos here. Unfortunately, all I can tell about them is that the first vertical inch or so seems nice!

13. I am unable to see this picture too Con_Are_Liars.
I have tried refresh many times and even used Internet Explorer to try and see it but all I see is the top 1/8th portion of it. Any suggestions?

15. It must have something to do with the hosting service.
But I don't have a clue what. See if this variation on the link works any better:

16. You know what it is?
I think it's those little grasses that I like. They remind me of my farm-girl childhood.

18. I think it might be an aster
or a daisy, if there is a difference. Among the grasses in an unmowed area at the end of a lawn in a wooded area on Lake Crescent. Windy, but a wide aperture and patience caught this moment.

11. A weed is only a flower...
...growing where it shouldn't be.

A rose in a wheat field would be a weed.
