A few more pics from St Julien (12th cent. chapel)
The chapel at dawn.

I thought this was a cozy shot taken under the trees beside the chapel.

The interior was tricky to capture well, as the light is very dim!

A close-up of some of what little decoration there is in this very austere chapel.

And finally, a view of most of the interior with lute player.

2. Thank you NV Whino.
The sound is magnificent! It has just enough resonance to make plucked string instruments really sing without becoming muddled or confused. What an inspiring place to play!

3. Ah.
The interiors, especially the first one, really convey the raw beauty of the architecture, the sort of space one could stand in quietly for a long time watching the light play across old stones. Very, very nice.

4. Thanks Jeff.
I'm happy you enjoyed the photos. We were fortunate to have the place to ourselves for an entire week, and thus were really able to steep ourselves in its mystery and ancient charm.

We've booked it again for another week at the end of October. I'm looking forward to going back there.

5. Very nice.
I really like the third one. You did a great job in difficult lighting conditions.

and the first one...how many sunsets (sunrises?) have bathed that building over time...

8. Thanks Adso
you're very kind. The sun was rising in that first one, and really does seem to be bathing the chapel with its light.

It will be interesting to see how the light changes when I go back there at the end of October.
