2. Yes.

These are some of the melting blocks of frozen tidal mud and ice on the banks of Knik Arm here in Anchorage. We've had several days of upper 40s weather and the ice is almost gone. A few more days and these will be gone.

Edit: Read you other response...it's ice and tidal mud.

4. The ice morphs into such interesting shapes

as the sharp edges are rounded by the sun and tide. Tonight when we walk over there, it'll be completely different. Today was quite warm, so they'll probably be just little humps. A few more days and it'll be plain old mud. Mud looks really good this time of year. I've had about enough of the ice. :)
