3. Don't worry. We're a friendly clan.

When I hosted I proved that even counting to 30 was beyond my skill set. Use the preview option on DU before posting the polls as a check. Blow the whole thing utterly and completely, and you'll get a lot of supportive hugs.

we'll do it behind your back. Winning in the real world is a good thing, but in DU World we turn the rules on their head.

This is actually the "The nail that sticks up gets hammered down" photo contest. You excel and we will give you a thankless task.

Of course the winner gets to select the theme. Revenge is sweet.

Until then, am still using a little ol' point 'n' shoot...and I keep entering here just because it's fun.

I know I haven't posted much in recent months...almost moved back to Tucson in search of employment, and during the last possible week to stay here, I did get employment here in CA teaching SpEd high school Algebra, and that alone has kept me damn busy...not to mention that the lovely teen population (or someone out there) gave me the flu for a week after my first week and a half of teaching on top of a tooth infection, and now am just getting over a lovely bronchial infection, and stuill worked all week... gah!

Spring Break after this next week! :woohoo:
Am headed back out on the road to both northern and southern AZ!
Gonna be a great road trip! :bounce:

Original is way too big for contests here... as is large...

Medium tends to be too small... :(

I'm not going to make it on this contest, but I think this Main Street theme is wonderful. I would like to see a Main Street thread a little later in the year. Not limited to one photo of "your" main street, but show us, with however many photos it takes, your Main Street.

but your photo might, and should, do better than second. It's a shame to have to see it reduced for web display. If I'm guessing right, the full-sized version must be really rich. But even reduced, the image's power still comes right through. It's emotionally resonant, it captures a poignant slice of the here and now, and it's very astutely framed. There are some really fine entries here, but I know which photo I'm rooting for.

And heck yes, you could run a contest.
