1. God yes
When I went to a widescreen it was like falling through the looking-glass.

(Though reading jaggy fonts was driving me crazy for a while. It was months before I found out I could use font smoothing, which made the type look normal again. D'oh!)

3. Please tell me where you set the font
smoothing? I'm having trouble getting my settings right on the 24" widescreen.

4. In XP
Go to Control Panel > Display > Appearance > Effects & check 'Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts' and choose ClearType as the method.

If you're on a Mac, I can't offer much advice. My Mac is ancient and I'm still using a 15" CRT with it.:-(

5. Thank you so much....
I just checked and it was set to clear. Hmmmmmmmm. I sent my monitor back because the desk top display would shift to the left leaving an area of black on the right. I should get it back soon or get a new one. Maybe it was the monitor that was causing the jagged fonts and not the settings.

6. Weird. When you get it back, try this link to see if tweaking helps:

7. Yeah, it was weird.....
I don't know what caused it to shift. If they don't get my monitor back from the manufacturer soon I'm going to insist they replace it. It's been over a month.

Thanks for the link and the info.

2. I've got one, too.
but my eyes are so bad that I have to have it on low resolution all the time except when I'm editing my photos. Everything looks REALLY wide and huge -- including all the yelling and screaming that people are doing.

8. Dual 24" here. What's your make and model?
:D

(Soyo Topaz 24" here... the flat panels came out of "last year's" Benq models - because of the quality, and to remain competitive, the monitors are sold without USB ports or a swivel stand... but, damn, they look great and for $300 per monitor, there is NOTHING to complain about.)
