Rainbow over my house today.
We had some pretty strong thunderstorms go through today. When the last of them were blowing out, I took this photo of a rainbow ending at my house.

But I saw the real beauty of this rainbow when I walked accross the street and saw it arching over my next door neighbor's house. A double rainbow!

3. Just saw your 2nd photo on TV
I don't normally watch the news... had it turned on to watch the story on some church that is kicking out Democrats. What a sick fucked world we live in...... :-(

4. Wow!

I forgot I even sent it into channel 9! When I took that shot, I asked my neighbor (also outside looking at it) if I could email her the photo. She said yes, and suggested I send it into Channel 9. So I did.

And then forgot all about it. LOL! I'm an addict of the PBS talk shows on Friday nights, and never watch the 10pm news anyway.

Thanks for letting me know! :hi:

5. Rainbows are hard to capture well
You seem to have held the colors nicely without losing other detail.

Since the center of rainbows appear where you look directly opposite to the position of the sun, you can find them in the spray of waterfalls and such if you can position yourself in such a way that your shadow would point toward your subject.

When flying into Seattle near sunset, the plane flew between the sun and Mt Rainier, and I looked out of the window watched a double rainbow, completely circular, surrounding the peak, with the shadow of the plane in the middle. One of those Oooh! Aaahh! Wow! moments. No, the camera wasn't available, and even so, shooting through a scratched plexiglas window might have yielded a souvenir, but the image would be a pale reminder only.

If you know of Galen Rowell, you probably know the tale of his running cross country in Tibet in order to get the rainbow where he wanted it with respect to the Potala Palace. The image is here (link deliberately broken to view, copy, paste and remove the space before jpg ): http://www.savetibet.org/images/images/RainbowOverPotalaPalacePicture. jpg

6. That is a remarkable photo!
I would have run to get that photo, too!

It's too bad you had no way to get that Mt. Rainier photo, but then, I figure that's the way it should be. I often miss the "experience" of where I am because I'm too busy trying to get the perfect photo. There are many times I wish I had a camera but that in turn reminds me to live in the moment, and enjoy the fleeting nature of whatever it is I want to capture in time.
