A site with some unusual images
http://blog.naver.com/post/postView.jsp?blogId=haruma95&logNo=80004641511#

None of the text is legible - seems to be Japanese, but I just see "?????" instead of text, so I know nothing about this other than what the images show. But they are aerial views and remarkable images. Not my personal taste, but I'd be proud to have any of them in my portfolio. They show us something about our world, about ourselves, that can't quite be put into words. Two samples linked to give an idea of what is there - not stuff you ordinarily come across:

3. Very nice... I recognize a couple of them from National Geographic
so he/she must work for them.

4. To all the above: Glad you found it interesting.
I hesitated in posting it - there are lots of great photo sites on the net and posting them all would be, well, noisy. But this one was not only simply stunning, like some (more than a few) others, but it also seemed like one very few would find without a direct link. And one that every one should see.

6. It "reminds you of" the book because this site is plagarizing his images.
Edited on Thu Apr-28-05 01:30 PM by Xithras
First, the site is in Korean, not Japanese. If my translation is correct, the blogger who posted it simply liked their images and reposted them on his site to "show them off", but never bothered crediting or linking back to the photographers site. If they were my images, I'd be pretty irritated at that blogger.

The photos are actually by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, the world famous author of that book and the photographer of ALL the pictures here. You can see more of his work and the methods he uses to get these pictures by checking his official website here: http://www.yannarthusbertrand.com/index_new.htm

And yes, these pictures have appeared in National Geographic, in photography books, on posters, and in print worldwide for quite some time.

8. Your link is not working.
There is a space between the underscore and the semi colon. I tried fixing it, but that didn't help.

9. I know. Here, use this URL.
http://tinyurl.com/bnfr4

The "_" (underscore) in the regular URL apparently triggers a parsing anomaly in the DU forum software's "illegal URL" patch ... intended to keep folks from posting malicious hacks.

11. That's beautiful
Check out the wallpaper I posted. It is brushed aluminum. It reminds me of some of the Linux wallpaper from back in the last century.

12. Thanks for the link to the photographer's site.
I tried to sleuth out where the photographer's other work could be found, but couldn't find a clue. The photographer has a remarkable talent, and his site is very instructive.

13. I think ALL his photographs are available on his site as wallpaper
At least all the "Earth From Above" set seem to be. For free. They come in 800x600 or 1024x768, and are at the bottom of each page upon which the photo is displayed from his "image bank".

The URL is http://www.yannarthusbertrand.com/yann2/
Enjoy. :hi:
