For those of you missing winter - lotsa pix.
Today was beautiful -- COLD (-7 was today's HIGH) - but clear except for some patchy fog. A new front's moving in tomorrow, so we took the opportunity to drive south while we still can for some snow pictures in the sunshine.

We came across these dall sheep right down along the highway pawing in the snow to get to some grass. There were three more on the ridge above. These are all females, I believe.

With the fog patches, the light was really incredible. It was lucky there wasn't much traffic because I kept making HullBoss stop so I could get another shot. :)

which is a favorite destination of the snowmachine enthusiasts (snowmachining on one side of the road, x-country skiing on the other)

Continuing on down the highway

1. Don't miss winter at all
except insofar as the lack of it here confirms to me that we've really buggered up this planet.

Beautiful photos, especially the second and third. Looks like paradise up there. Well, except for the whole cold-as-all-get-out aspect.;-)

Fine work, as always.:woohoo:

make me wish we would get some winter and snow. BTW it was sunny instead of drippy rain and fog so only an almost on wanting winter. The drippy rain fog days I do start wishing it were snow just for something not gray.

Edited to add- link to why I am not really enjoying the warm winter so far. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=115x78056 Also why I am waiting to see before I commit to being in DC on the 27th. Well along with can I arrange surgery right to make it.

6. Gorgeous! The snow is melting here :(
Temps still in the 40s-50s.

So are you using the new lens? Did you get a vertical grip for your camera?

7. Oh, Blue... They're just gorgeous.
I love how you captured the changing light. 'Continuing on down the highway' keeps pulling me back for another look. Maybe because when I think of highway, what comes to mind is eternal construction and infernal traffic.

Whenever I see your snow photos and suffer pangs of winter envy, the only antidote is to revisit the pics of HullBoss shoveling snow off of the roof. That bit of reality brings me right back around...

That and the thought of
*GAWP!! -7 degrees. It's dropped below 50 here the last two nights and I'm layered up.

Thank you for sharing these - gawgeous, simply gawgeous.
