Inspired by Maestro and........
... taking advantage of the one day before the next snow storm hit... that has hit and continues to "hit". :(

I went to one of 4 boid hangouts that I frequent from time to time. I usually don't get any decent boid snaps and this time was no exception. :P Was looking for a big barn owl or a hawk but only got a few geese and ducks.

This was part of the area I wandered in. I tried to "develop" this snap to make it look like a winter morning sunrise. Didn't come out so good.. but hopefully ya' get the idea... what I was goin' for.

It was fairly "virgin" snow. Didn't see hardly any critter tracks and I saw no human footprints. Most of it had melted off and only in a few places did it come up past my knees.

While I checked out the trees for some funky boids I spent time snappin' a few ducks. This duckie seemed to be laughing at me. (400mm with flash if you're playing the home version)

Duckies, Rocks, and Sticks. The duckies seem to "fit" in with the rocks. I should have cloned out the stick going through the one ducky head but I was too lazy. (400mm with flash if you're playing the home version)

Rather "cliche"... this snap has been done a brazillion times. (400mm with flash if you're playing the home version)

This was an odd one. The little duckie was hangin' with the geese and the geese seemed to be very protective of the duckie. Duckie had found a dry spot under a tree. Snow will do crazy things to auto white balance. Ms F' had gotten me this incredible thing for xmas that will neutralize your white balance but I didn't have it with me.

Last snap I'll leave ya' with. The gang got tired of camera boy buggin' the shit out of them and left. (400mm with flash if you're playing the home version)

Thanks for looking.
:hi:

1. I'm glad to see Alaska isn't the only place with blue snow.
 Seriously, these are really cute. We don't have any more ducks and geese up here this time of year. In Anchorage all I see are ravens and Bohemian waxwings, and I never seem to have the camera with me when I see them. I miss the waterfowl in the winter.

2. Wondered when we would see some
snow pics from you. These are all good but I love the one with the ducks and the rocks. Though now that you mention it you should clone out the stick. Watched a live report on your snow last night and swear it is the first time I have ever seen it snowing buckets. You could tell it was a wet snow and don't you all usually get a dryer snow? BTW still waiting for winter here. Whispers quietly,"62 degrees on my porch at 3:13 pm." My roses have leaves still and worry about my flowers etc since they aren't sure what to do. Also waiting for the other show to drop and dread what the end of Jan, Feb and March will bring to make up for the mild stuff so far. Even our weatherman remind people that sooner or later the other shoe was going to drop.

3. You can't beat the
2nd and 4th duck shots! Those are just awesome! Are the others Canadian Geese?

4. F., I was hoping this would be your year-end retrospectacular collection
But all the same, these are really cool. The last shot is an instant classic as far as I'm concerned. Obviously that flock originated in Toronto - they've got that snooty latte-drinking attitude...

Great stuff.

5. Who cares about songboids...?
With wildlife photos as good as that, getting goosed is just ducky. ;-)
