And The December Theme is
'Tis The Season.

Run-off Poll result (26 votes)
Surrealism (6 votes, 23%) Vote
'Tis The Season (20 votes, 77%) Vote

I am bumping it all up by a few days this month- Submissions will be 13th to the 15th. Contest 16-18th give or take a few hours along the way.

Here's your first sappy, schmucky but, pretty, predictable submission. A gold star for incentive:

5. Not to be a downer,
but I was reminded of the human with wires attached who was draped in black. Such a shame that even the most innocent images become reminders of the evil that is being done by our rulers. I'll spare you all the pain of re-posting that image, but I suspect it is already as burned into your occipital cortex, as it is in mine.

3. sdomething about it reminds me of a bird, though
it is the wire and the way the star hangs and swings on the wire... like a bird on a swing thing in a cage...

4. A trapeze star!
The December theme will be interesting, to be sure.

And, the response in GD to what may come from all the talent in this group, should prove just as interesting. ;)

Perhaps January will see Surrealism as the topic. Nothing like entering the new year with a view to the unusual.

Thanks, jhain, for already taking on the position of host for all this. Seems whoever is host for the month does things in their own inimitable and personable way, and I, for one, appreciate that.

6. I'm going to start taking the camera with me
everywhere I go and maybe something unusual will catch my eye. I'm going to try to avoid the sappy and predictable if I can.

8. I'm going to the Christmas Market in Nuremberg tomorrow
I think I'll find lots of subjects for Tis the Season. Have a new tripod, will try to bone up on the manual this afternoon so I can take some shots NOT in automatic mode. :)

9. I thought Surrealism won.
Or do we just keep voting until we get it "right"?

10. Kudos to jhain--my 2 cents (again)
Wrote this in the OP of December poll:

jhain has done what she thinks is best as the host for the December contest. The opinions of some that as host she should have just made a decision, she did just that; She made a decision for a run-off.

Kudos to jhain. :toast:

An additional 2-cent clink in the jar:
If the day comes that I just happen to win the monthly photo contest, I will work with the belief that all who join in it, all who participate in this group, will understand that as host, I will do my best to follow through regarding the choices I may have to make as host. It's not an easy position, but one, that when won, takes on the mantle of serious and sincere leadership to bring about and continue what has become a very important contest for all who choose to participate.

Again....many kudos to jhain, and to all who have previously carried the load as host. Thank you. :toast:

11. I snapped my entry last night
But I'm doin' a couple of Holiday Snaparoos so I should have some traditional Holiday snaps to post after the contest.

And you were all nervous about hosting a contest. Sweating cats and... :P
