An Early Pro. A little nostalgia.
A few of you might get a kick out of this. Since I’m still working on recovering my photos from a fried computer and getting stuff off a Flash Card I thought I’d contribute something during my “recovery” period. It’s a very brief piece on my best friend who, among other things, was a Photographer.

This is from a camping trip my friend and his lovely young bride took in August of 1942.

And another….

This is the cover of a Card sent to my friend by the staff at Fawcett Publications in 1943. It was drawn by CC Beck, the comic book Artist who did Captain Marvel. My friend started with Fawcett in late 1941 and worked with an Artist by the name of Mac Raboy…. the two of them worked on Captain Marvel, Jr….. and a few other things...

This is a photo of my friend unloading a Bomb Camera at an Air Base in Italy. (circa 1944).

After returning from the War my friend went to California to try to get a job with Disney. They were not hiring at the time and suggested that he look for work in New York, where he just moved from. So, he went back to New York. This photo is of Belmont Photo Service in Brooklyn, which my friend and two others started in 1946. The good looking fella in the middle is my friend.

Camera Repair manuals were not too plentiful when they had the Belmont Photo Service store, so my friend created his own which included drawings which he did of various cameras for repair reference. This is one example.

Footnote: Still visit my friend once a year. He’s still a die hard Democrat and lurks around DU once in awhile.

1. Wow! Your friend's young bride is a dish!
Check out them gams!

I love the top two photos. And it's so cool he went on to open that photo shop. He's obviously a very talented fellow.

3. I never met her
She passed away in the early 70's, but I hear so many wonderful stories about her. After she died he quit all his creative art and photography endeavors.:-(

A early "cheesecake" shot...

The Photo Shop was a short-lived venture. After the War there was a silver shortage and they had a hard time getting film. They would go to the local Drug Stores and purchase film at retail just to have stock for the store.

One of my projects this summer is to convert the prints I have that he shot on "permanent loan" to DVD. That, and 2 million other things...

These days he's a computer enthusiast.

I see you're in the final four.

I need to get crackin' so I can get an entry in next month.

2. Wow. Lake George.
I grew up a stone's throw from there.
