Fall Creek (dial-up warning)
Well, my SO and her (our) sweet pit bull Lucy finally had our two week vacation. Better late than never. Didn't start off all that well. Access to our traditional first camping spot at Devil's Half Acre Campground near Mt. Hood was denied because some entrepreneurial asshole had decided that the very narrow access "road" would be a be a good place to tie up a string of trail horses for their customer's use the next day, far better than the horse camp a few hundred yards away. Our intended destination, Scott Lake, at 4800 feet elevation, was too cold, and the first alterative at 2200 feet, was still a bit chilly, so we then went to the Fall Creek area (50 miles west of Eugene, OR), where the campgrounds are at around 1000 feet elevation, and set up at the Puma Campground, where we enjoyed warmer weather. Bright sunny days, although since it was in an (arche)typical rain forest not much sun actually hit our site.

Technical info - Nikon N80, mostly 50mm, f/1.4 at 1/90th to 1/45th second, since I was without a tripod (call mne dysfunctional) and a few with my 24-50mm f/3.3-4.5. Some on Provia 400, and some on Sensia 400.

So, now for the pix...
(and thanks to http://xs.to/ for free hosting with no unpleasant surprises)

Our house (well, the bedroom):

Here's a fuller view of our (utopian, but transitory) home:

Fall Creek was magical:

A place where Gaia made her art:

It was a place for romance:

And a time for reflection(s)

Reflection #1:

Reflection #2:

Reflection #3:

Reflection #4

And, getting really into it, Reflection #5:

More to come... This is just the intro.

1. When you said Provia and Sensia you threw everyone off
:)

What a wonderful place you were in and it sounds like you had a very nice retreat from the concrete and steel world. I especially liked when you took a moment "to reflect". The reflections and color are quite nice.

You forgot your tripod? Don't feel bad... I went out one day without a flash card in the camera.
:dunce:

I used Sensia for the first time this summer on peep snaps. I was very impressed. It did some funky things to skin tones but not so funky that I couldn't use them. I'm lucky to have a lab that understands color and the different films so what was nice was I didn't have to "photoshop" the Sensia snaps. It has what I call a nice "tone".... others may refer to the "feel" that you get. Not sure which word works. I guess what I'm saying is that I can get a "look" with Sensia that I can not duplicate using digital. I'm sure some "photoshop" expert could, but I can't....

Anxious to see more.
:hi:

2. Hiking Fall Creek Trail
Portal:

Sometimes the trail is right next to Fall Creek:

Sometimes it is harder to see;

But the natural rainforest itself is always enchanting, sometimes sharply defined:

Sometimes soft:

But the river was always there:

3. And, of course, Lucy the gentle Pit Bull was in heaven
Standing proud:

Doing her (self-assigned) job of getting sticks out of the water:

Although some were a bit too big:

Of course, she also needed some time to rest and daydream:

And eat:

4. I think Lucy was a beaver in a past life.
:silly:

5. More like the "anti-beaver"
since she tries to remove trees and branches from waterways, rather than dragging them in. On the other hand, if they are too big to drag, she'll just chew them down, and after retrieving thrown sticks (the bigger the better), she will frantically chew them until her impulse to chase and retrieve quickly reasserts itself and she demands another throw. The vet is puzzled (and maybe a bit disappointed) by the fact that she never needs any treatment for tartar buildup on her teeth.

Just doing her thing. And a true delight to watch.

8. I love these peaceful scenes.
Thank God there are still places to go to get away from the insanity.

9. Of course, there are Trees
It was often hard to see the trees for the forest:

But there were a few hints:

Even looking closely:

But not too closely:

There was a hint:

A clearing gave a better view:

Or a partial view:

And, rarely, most of a tree:

10. All these are beautiful.
Lucy is beautiful and looks like a sweet pup. I have yet to meet a mean pit bull. Most of them I've been around are the sweetest, gentlest dogs. Course they have good responsible owners. Looks like all three of you had a good time in some beautiful country.
