Bath time
I should of used this one for my texture shot except it's been sitting on my computer for two week before I went and looked at it.

I'm still playing with it in photoshop trying to use that same technique I did for the cosmic fishes

2. I had a few elephant pics too
and I considered them for the contest. They were nice, contrasty b&w photos with lots of wrinkles, like yours.

A few weeks after the "portals" contest, I ran across this pic I had forgotten about:

I think it would have been a good one.

3. ooo Your right
That's lovely nice lighting too.

Don't you hate when that happens?

I've only posted two pictures in the contests but there always seems to be one you get later that's just perfect but a missed opportunity.

Was that for a wedding?

taking photos of buildings. Just happened to catch the guy coming out of the church. That's one of the handful of old buildings we have in Austin. Lots of great detail.

Here's another of the same building, when I was in a more "arty" mood:

Oh, and btw, here's one of the elephant shots I was considering:

Talk about your blown highlights!

4. Cool. Great POV.
Was this shot in color? I'd be interested to see a color version if you have one.

6. It was in color
It's a bit blown out..

and thank you for the remarks.. I actually don't like my butterfly pic, I found it was too contrasty! all the watery rocks reflected light.. Ugh just an eyesore but I thought the butterfly had neat marks. My Neighbor baby sits that little one.. the girl never smiles! Divina.. I just call her Diva Divina

7. Don't find that blown out
though I have a real weakness for contrasty stuff, whether in B/W or color. I like it with the color element introduced. It brings out aspects of texture that the monochrome is missing. Of course, since I'm often wrong, so might I be here, but I love B/W and usually never regret desaturating a shot. So if the color restores something, my little eye at least is seeing a real difference.

The contrast in the butterfly pic may tie into the idiosyncracies of my taste, as mentioned above, but it gave the photo drama. Seldom a bad thing.

5. Should have added...
Have just been browsing through your smugmug pics. Wonderful butterfly shot in the Nature series, and I love the pic of the frowning baby in the Children section. Lots of other good stuff there, too.
