Two days on Rainier... (EXTREME DIAL-UP WARNING)
Last week, I had the opportunity to visit Paradise (on the south side of Rainier) on two different days.

(All images: Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D with "kit" 18-70mm lens)

DAY 1:

A panorama at Reflection Lakes (if this hadn't been my first attempt to create a panorama, I might have managed to frame it so that the cropping didn't remove the reflection of the mountaintop  )

(20mm, 1/15 at f25)

Two views from Inspiration Point

Rainier with wildflower meadows

The ever-popular Myrtle Falls viewpoint

DAY 2:

(This was a late afternoon visit with an out-of-town guest.)

The mountain in early-evening light

1. Washington is beautiful.
I went to HS in Yakima, and could see Rainier's glaciers from just about anywhere in town, even at the bottom of the valley. Nice climate in Yakima too. Just no economy and ann orchard full of fundy freeps. Hated living there. But it is beautiful to visit. I'm glad my Mom still lives there.

2. These are wonderful.
Washington is indeed a beautiful state. The Northwest is the best. :)

5. Stunning shots...
Thanks for sharing.

We were in Seattle last August, but did not make it up to Rainier. (Had to split a week between Vancouver/BC and the States.) But we'll definitely be back!! My husband wants to move there someday (Northwest).

9. Seeing your photos are
getting to be as bad as seeing Blue's. There are only so many words in me for gorgeous, beautiful and sublime. And these are all that and more. I also leave wanting to see these places one day and slightly jealous that they aren't in my back yard. Then all of you remind me you have longer winters and I figure its a fair trade off.
