Poll question: Will this be the last of the texture polls?
I dunno know, but I feel compelled to post one, nonetheless. usedtobesick helped me narrow it down to these three:

Cicada on the Trellis

Children's Lit

Down on the Docks

1. Nope. there will be at least one
more.
Good to hear you are getting settled and have internet.

I went with the "Down on the Docks." Lots of texture there and with the added benefit of great color and lines.
I got a cicada today on my tree, though yours on the trellis is so much better.

8. usedtobesick has to be credited
with actually seeing the cicada. He picks most of my wildlife models out to me. Wild life speaks to him. :P Although in truth, I think this one was dead.

Nice to be settled and back among my favorite photography buffs. :hi:

2. Love the last one
The color is just so rich, and it pretty much screams texture too.

3. In a way, I feel sorry for the middle image...
It would have been an easy pick -- except for the one that followed it!

I read that in grade school.

11. From left to right,
the books are Pollyanna, The Witch of Blackbird Pond, Calico Captive, and Charlotte's Web. The Withc of Blackbird Pond and Calico Captive were written by the same author, Elizabeth George Speare. She wrote great historical fiction. Did you like reading The Witch of Blackbird Pond?

13. Yeah, I Dug It
Interestingly enough, it was an offering at my Catholic School library. These days, I wonder if it would be there.

15. I bet The Witch of Blackbird Pond is probably still in the library.
It's won all kind of awards, teaches a loving message, and I doubt Pope Benedict has read it. :P

Calico Captive, on the other hand, is probably not in the Catholic school library. There's one scene in the book where a French priest is conducting services for the captives in the Indian camp. One Protestant prisoner tells the new captives that she attends his services because he brings comfort to the captive families, he's a kind man doing compassionate outreach. But the new Protestant captives insist they'll worship separately from the heathen Papist! LOL!

6. I had to give the Cicada one vote.
Ropes are great, though.

7. I think the cicada is really good.
But I think texture, I think of the feeling. And I just don't think many people want to touch bugs this big, so it loses on repulsion factor.

14. Oh, but the shells have a wonderful texture.
I guess I haven't run into too many people repulsed once the cicada has left the building, so to speak.

9. Voted Ropes
For intesnity of color that adds so much to the overall texture feel of the photo.

I love the cicada! His metallic eyes and armor-like body make him look almost surreal.

12. Yeah, it looks like Ropes have won hands-down.
And I don't think surreal is the right word. Creepy is more like it. :scared:
