one. My top two picks are Mirrored Tree and Goin' Nowhere (Old Train Car). I voted Goin' Nowhere (Old Train Car) but was almost a close my eyes and pick the one I land on. They are on opposite ends of the scale texture wise but both fit. All the pics are great and I always love water shots. I love Mountain Dawn but not sure it fits for texture. A great mood photo though.

2. I think #4 and the last 3 are a bit out of range for the topic, but
where is the "Damn, you're good! I can't choose!" option in the poll?

#3 might be the best bet for popular appeal. Not TOO abstract.
#5 might be the best, the many lines and brightness foci keep the eye moving back to the center, and the colors are soothing.
#6 might be my favorite because of the subject and composition, but the image is a bit glittery and bright (my tastes) to truly reflect the cooling, nourishing quality of that small waterfall.

3. There's n ol' sayin' down in Montana
Fool me n' once... shame on ... errr ... please don't tell me that I just went through all these and voted for my fave ... aint n beein' fooled gin'.

Do all these photographs "say" Texture? Shit, I don't know. Who cares. I was jus' diggin' all the wonderful photos you posted.

Number 3 definitely has the best grab ya' appeal. Number 4 might be nice in a B&W and a few hits off a bong, but I don't own a bong or the stuff you put in it. :(

I kept going back to Number 5. It's very subtle and probably won't have the best "lounge appeal" but that's what I voted for and I have the paper receipt to prove it.:D Actually... I don't think you'd go wrong with any of these.

4. I love
Mirrored Tree, but I think it's more pattern than texture. I voted for Go'in Nowhere.

(And I think you shouldn't be allowed to participate in these contests.)
:P

5. Had to go with 3
But my favorite is the last one; I just don't see it as 'textural' per se, since the texture is only intimated in silhouette. But it's a crazy beautiful photograph.

6. Went with Goin' Nowhere
But it was a hard choice between that and Mountain Dawn.

As usual, you photos are excellent! :hi:

8. At the risk of opening a whole new can of worms...
...how would you have voted if I had used this black-and-white version of Waterground Stone instead of the color one in the poll? Would that have changed your verdict?

9. Possibly ...

I really like the train picture, but this version does bring out the texture better in my mind. It would have been a tougher choice since, for me personally, these were the two I considered best for texture subjects.

The reason I like this better is that it takes emphasis off the water, lacking texture for the most part, and places it squarely on the texture you're wanting to highlight.

...that the main problem in the color version, IMHO, is that the water is such an ugly muddy green. Taking the color away from it cleans the image up considerably.

I still don't know how it ranks versus the train photo, though.

11. My favorite shot is "Mirrored Tree."
But it's only a visual texture. It doesn't say to me "Wow! That would be a fingertip sensation!" My second favorite is the waterfall, but all it says to me is "Danger! Slippery rocks!"

So my choice was "Goin' Nowhere" which looked toucharrific!
