Here are 2 I've rejected, because they just don't seem to capture the personalities involved. This contest is a tough one.:banghead:

I can see what you mean by your shots not capturing the personalities, and I don't even know the people being photographed.

For instance, the girl has a sweet face, but the way it shows up on my monitor, the one eye that's lit sort of glows... :scared:

In the bottom one, it's a very cute baby, but not knowing him (I'm assuming its a "him"), it's just a cute kid. I don't see any spark that distinguishes him from any other baby. And just in case that's your baby... and you think I'm dissin' him... let me demonstrate what I mean by using photos of my own son from around the same age:

2. He's the son of some friends, and has tons of personality
But not a whit of it seems to come through in my pic.

I think I've decided on a contest photo, but I feel scarcely more confident about it than I did about these two.

3. I like these very much!
Perhaps I'm just dumb, but I think they show character too. Certainly they display your creativity.

4. Thank you very much
I'm not sure if the two personalities I know are really evident in the pics. Good portraits just seem so elusive somehow.

5. I disagree, I think they both show personality.
The girl looks quite sultry, and somewhat amused. The glowing eye is perfect.

the boy shows a seriousness, a thoughtful side.

You might be judging the images through the filter of your experience with these individuals.

6. Thanks, alfredo
You might be right about that. It's a tough theme because subjectivity keeps elbowing out objectivity as I'm trying to choose a pic. I have one in mind that I think is superior to these two, but again, it's impossible to objectively rate the image as an image.

There's a moral in all this, but damned if I know what it is...:eyes:

7. We're our own worst critics.
That makes the selection of images very tough.
