Poll question: Vote on theme's for next month's contest
Edited on Sun Feb-27-05 10:56 PM by RagingInMiami
I've came up with five categories for next month's contest, which I think are broad enough to allow for individual creativity. Here they are.

1. I voted wildlife/nature but
think the category is too broad. Either wildlife or nature. But maybe that's just because those are the two categories I have the most photos in. :)

16. Is that a bore tide or just a regular wave...
That picture is stunning.

17. If I knew what a bore tide was....
but as far as I know, it's just a regular wave. It's a photo of where the Big Sur River meets the Pacific. I think it was close to high tide. It's my current desktop image.

Thanks for positive feedback! :hi:

18. I'm sorry. A bore tide is kind of a mini-tidal wave.
From the Anchorage Visitor's Guide... "Turnagain Arm and Knik Arm are the only places in the United States where tidal bores occur regularly. Experts say Turnagain Arm has daily bore tides, but they are sometimes difficult to spot when the tide changes aren't big.

A bore tide is a breaking wave up to 6 feet high rushing at up to 15 mph with an incoming tide." We have some of the highest tides in the world up here, so I guess that's why we get bore tides.

Anyway, here's kind of a cool picture from the Anchorage Daily News:

8. I'm leaning toward street life but I ask you:
wouldn't it be cool to just do a color? At some point I'd love to see a contest where everyone submits a photo with the theme "red" or "orange", etc. An extra enhancement might be that those same photos can't be more than a week old... :D

12. you mean color as a theme?
Well, they way I look at it, it's up to you guys. I'm just hosting it. But it's too late for me to edit the poll and add color.
Unless I ask a moderator.
The reason I put the poll up so early is to get a feel for what people want so there is still plenty of time to discuss the perfect theme.

15. I'm easy...
...although I would note that there are NO amusement parks up here, abandoned or otherwise, just a carnival that gets put up and taken down for the state fair and Fur Rendezvous. :) But whatever you guys go with, I'll try to find something appropriate.

This is fun. I like this group.

Here's some wildlife in my neighbor's front yard.

19. I chose architecture
because I like seeing how different people view buildings and structures. It's like seeing the world through their eyes. Plus, I haven't seen many architecture pics so far. Plenty of nature and wildlife.
