Icicles
These are hanging off the roof by my bedroom window. I'm hoping they melt before a strong wind (which we are prone to have) breaks them off and knocks them into my window!

More snow expected tonight and tomorrow. I think the sun is out today just as a fluke for a few hours.

1. WTG!
Especially like the last photo! The icicles lend so much to framing the entire pic that is is so crisp all the way through.

On a side note:
When I lived in the Sierras in NV, we used to tie string from the roof to the bottom of the porch to make icicle "posts". It looked really cool :)

2. These are beautiful...
I was trying to take icicle pictures yesterday, too, but with the gray sky, they just didn't turn out. Please be careful with them, however. As unlikely as it seems, I know someone whose adult son was killed when an icicle broke off and impaled him. As much as I appreciate their esthetics, I usually knock mine off when they get too long, especially the ones right around the door.

3. These are about 40 feet off the ground
And seeing as I shot this through my bedroom window, I don't think I can knock them off (windows don't open). But thanks for the warning! I'm sure they will be melted by the time I get home, the sun is pretty bright today.
