WOW, great pic.

Edited to add, what the hell do you mean saying there is no interesting architecture in AK when there is something like that?

2. The Catholics down the street have really outdone themselves,
it's true. :)

3. Fabulous!
That is really beautiful--church and photograph, both.

P.S. Would you please recall your weather? I know that 23 degrees is nothing to Alaska, but it sure as hell is cold to a Californian. And I mean, snow in San Diego?

6. Is that still up there?
I haven't been up that far north since the '70s. I'll have to get a shot of it when we're up that way in May.

7. Nice pic.
Makes me feel warm and safe.

I love the feminine nature and focus of the Catholic Church in Mexico and points South....much warmer, forgiving, and lively than the North American (North European) variety. The radical difference in the two flavors of Catholicism is visible in the architecture of the churches. I don't attend organized services of any Religion, but I find this church building much more inviting than the traditional (phallic) Cathedrals in North America.

Great color.

8. Regarding the color...
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 01:44 PM by Blue_In_AK
I pushed it a little in the processing. It's actually a little less orange and a little more tan, but I like this better. The late afternoon sun did give it more of an orangy glow than the daylight sun does, so I emphasized that ... and besides my original shot was underexposed. Am I still legal? :)

9. Sound of siren....
Contest Police Car pulls up....:-)

Whatever ya' did really works. Close enough for me. I think your post-processed is a fantastic photograph. The color and form stuff is awesome. Besides, reality is highly over-rated. ;)

10. I don't see why not on being contest legal though
might I suggest you send them a small 6x4 photo and suggest they paint the church. Your color really gives it that much more personality. I do know someone that took a wow pic of a church during a wedding and sent them a photo. The church liked it so much they ask how much to use it on member mailing. They didn't charge but had their name and contact info placed prominently with the photo and in the mailing. They shot weddings and got lots of calls just from there.

I am still interrogating every photographer I come across so slowly getting these stories, hints and tips. I have also noticed that working paid photographers love telling their stories and love that others want to do what they do and encourage you.
