Gordon Parks has died
Gordon Parks was an awesome man. Talented in so many ways. His photography inspired me. I read his autobiography when it came out and that led me to The Learning Tree, a beautifully written book somewhat based on childhood. He also composed music and directed movies. He was a great man and an American treasure.

2. He was a pioneer...

at a time when African American's weren't considered as employees, he went out and made his own way. A brave act or a matter of necessity? ;)

I watched a show on the Starz channel, last year featuring Gordon Parks, Ossie Davis and Melvin Peebles--all vanguards in the arena of film. Very interesting and very telling in terms of the times they lived in and how their work influenced others...

He will be missed..
