Feeling depressed, at a low point, need a pick me up,
but, like me don't use alcohol?
Try du lounge. I am surprised, I thought it would be saltier and more contentious. It isn't, but is fairly civilized, humorous, not bad.
Today is Saturday, the day a new Wait Wait Don't Tell Me is available online, a show always good for a laugh, a little fun. Some enjoyment.
They say laughter is the best medicine. It usually helps me.

1. I'm a long time lounger, David
And you are right, it usually is somewhat congenial. It has it's moments, though. A few months ago there was a serious feud in there involving about 10 people, half of whom are banned now. But most of the time it's a decent place to hang out if you just want to shoot the breeze or find something to laugh about. You may need someone to explain the inside jokes, though. :)

2. Humor is always good medicine.
Though I've been accused of not caring about things because I joke about it. The truth is that at least half the jokes I make are really to keep me from crying over how much this world has gone to Hell.

3. Oh, there was a massive flame war in the Lounge a few months ago.
Lead to several posters being banned, others were forced to have certain other posters on ignore.

5. me too
better then the lounge, I seek out TOONS in GD.
I start on page 21, and work backward toward the front page. I look at all the TOON OP's and I kick them back to the top..

I am all about comedy and seek it out all the time.
I don't have TV, but I do have www.hulu.com and netflixs..
We also have a $1.oo movie theatre nearby. I catch all the comedies that they show there. Those are my date nights.

6. Manic state. Now I'm all up. Beyond the escstasy of the comedy.
But the misery continues. My cat torments me. He squawks at me. Last night all night long.
He wants me to look out the window at something he sees. He wants to know where his companion kitty who died last year is.
He wants me to roll over so he can sleep on my belly.
If I dream or stop breathing, he wakes me.
I'm the one who should be the most negative, and instead I'm the only one who's positive, who has faith for the future. Even tho' my future is the most limited.
To be or not to be. I do not see the rub of it. It seems to me to be eternal peace. Peace in the valley, as the song goes.

9. A cat was laying in the road about a week ago. I moved my car up and he wouldn't
move. So I got out of the car and he came right up to me and was so friendly. Two people came out and told me that their was a family that treated their cats badly and let them procreate at will.

So I took him home.

He drove, (still drives) me crazy! Apparently one night his food bowl was not filled up enough so he came in my bed and started batting me on the head. I kept saying "NO" and pushing him away. Finally I pulled the covered over my head and hide. The little shit found a way under the covers and got in my face and just breathed real loud. So I finally jumped out of bed furious and found that his bowl needed to be topped off, (if he were starving he would have ate what was left in the bowl)

And he screams too. It is almost like he is saying, "I WANT THIS!" "DO THIS FOR ME!" "PICK ME UP!"

But you know what? I decided to try and look at him differently. I decided to see the humor in the things he does. Like the black feet prints all over my white bathroom counter top.

Look up "Simon cat" on Youtube.

Anyway I am starting to enjoy him and even like him

Oh, I named him Prince Harry because he has red hair and he acts like he owns Buckingham Palace.

10. Acceptance and love is the key. They know how to be cats. I never
get angry, mostly they just want someone to pay attention to them. Sometimes I just have to pet mine and he is happy.
They love the human companionship.

8. Car talk, I can only listen to about 1/2 the show. It's supposed to
be about cars, but those two morons haven't figgered that out yet. So they have stupid horrible yee haw music near the breaks, ugh. And, the stupid puzzler. I could care less. I want to hear about cars.
Prairie Home can be so beautiful, and fun, and delightful, or nostalgic and sad. Sometimes it starts to break my heart and makes me quit.
The lounge.
Plenty of stupid kids. Stupid kid profanity. And goof ball high school and the most sophomoric of the college kids.
And plenty of people so stupid, they think sitting in front of the boob tube, guzzling beer, and going woof woof woof is ... sport.
It ain't sport. It's vegetation. Vegetating. I.e., couch potato.
Sport is when you take a baseball, and throw it at me, whoosh, I catch it. Or a football. Or soccer ball, we start kicking that ball back and forth (not in the house, outside).
Or, ... softball. No mitt needed.

11. I got to stop. I'm in the lounge for an hour or two, and I'm laughing
just about hard enough to split a gut. I got to stop for a bit.
