Good days and bad days
I had a little bit of a relapse the other day. It's not really a big deal and I'm okay. It's just that for about 12 hours there I felt like a space cadet. I think the cause was lack of sleep and too much caffeine. I hadn't slept but 4 hours in the previous day and a half and that's not good for a cracked dude. I also drank too much coffee and I think that made my body process the medication I take faster than usual.

I came home from work yesterday, took my meds, and went straight to bed and got about 10 hours of sleep. I woke up feeling well-rested and back to normal. I wrote here about how my past dogs me when I'm out driving down the road for my trucking gig. My mind just reflexively turns to some uncomfortable moment when I don't have anything to fully occupy it. But last night was much better. I was more able to let that stuff go.

If you are mentally ill be sure to get the proper amount of sleep. It can make a world of difference. And don't over-do it on the caffeine. Eating right and getting enough vitamins is also helpful.

1. What you said times a brazillian!!!
Sleep is EXTREMELY important to mental health. Like you, I've had to learn it the hard way a couple times. On the other hand, if I notice a major change in my sleep patterns, I also know enough to go see the doctor, because it could mean an onset of a manic/depressive episode.

In my old age, I've turned into a total sleep Nazi. I refuse to get less than six hours of sleep a day, regardless of what's going on. I know that if I don't get that, I'm in big trouble. I end up burning up more leave time from work, but it's worth it for my health.

Glad to hear you're doing better Droopy, and take care of yourself!

2. What you said, Droopy. Sleep is the most important thing I can do
to make sure my day goes well. If I don't get enough, I'm not really alert or focused, am anxious and impatient and generally no damn good.
