1. GDTRFB? Whatever that is, remember,
you are alive, so you will always have the chance to be happy.

Today I exercised and ate right... I'm kinda drunk on champagne, but I only drank half a bottle, not the entire thing...

As far as happy, I have a new nephew that has been a source of inspiration...

3. Hello mdmc !
well champagne always works in a pinch!:toast:

Tell us your symptoms and problems and may perhaps we can help, we are a pretty heavily medicated bunch:hippie:

But we also have alot of knowledge amongst us, even if you are uninsured there are still some cheap generic drugs out there that may be helpful......

4. hello!
Thank you for listening.

I have anxiety and depression, with a twist of OCD, which presents itself mostly as obsessions. I am a pot smoker (goin on 15 years) that has not smoked in 3 weeks.

I am not working right now and am having a hard time presenting myself as a viable candidate for employment.

I usually wake up from a nightmare at about 6:45 AM. The nightmare is not "spooky", but rather an anxious realization that I am poor and lonely. Overweight, depressed, ugly, mean... It is a hard way to start the day.

I have to get up right away, because if I don't, the depression gets far worse. If I don't get up, eventually the anxiety will overpower the depression, and force me out of bed. I then drink multiple cups of coffee and read the paper and du.

I usually have dreams / nightmares about my ex-girlfriend, and how she is no longer interested in me. She has moved on, and I have not. I am still an optimist and believe that it is better to have loved and lost then to never had loved at all.

I am pretty introverted, and I don't have many friends. Pot usually took away the boredom and loneliness.

I used to get high every morning. Now I don't and the pain is hard to bear.

I am often comforted by the fact that we all die, and that I can end my life at any time that I desire to. I am equally comforted by the study of karma, and the need to burn off negative karma in order to allow positive karma to enter my life.

I pray and attend church.
I try to exercise.
I read...
I watch comedies.
I try to remain politically active (although I am really disgusted with our party and political system).
I talk with my sister and love my nephew.

That seems to be the situation that I am in. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you in advance,
mdmc

5. well mdmc
you sound alot like me, only i quit pot 8 weeks ago because i fear a drug test at work...............otherwise, once the danger passes,I'm twisting up a real nice doobie!!!!:toast:

I think pot is really a helpful thing in this shit storm of a world we are living in.........

I also have depression/anxiety/fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue..............blah blah blah, I could go on but you get the point....

So don't despair,...............I do think spiritual evolution is important when we reach that point.

Eckhardt Tolle

A course in Miracles

Deepak Chopra

and other things along the spiritual path are often helpful..............you may want to rent the movie "What The Bleep do we know"? all these things I find helpful,

it is an evolution, life is evolving and if we don't give up, we evolve too...........SO have Heart!!!

Magic is afoot and peace is in the offing! O8)

6. I have an anxiety disorder that first presented itself with my first

EDIT: I just realized you sad you don't have health insurance! There are clinics available and they can get you free meds also. Thank God there is a number of groups in the US that fight for people with mental health problems. NAMI is the biggest one. They may have additional resources for you.

high from pot. My doctor told me years after that that can happen to some people with a biological predisposition to anxiety. That may be different from your situation but when I read your post I felt like responding with my experience.

You did not say if you were on any psych medications. I take Lamictal, (for bi-polar) Klonopin, (for Bi-polar and anxiety) and Prozac for depression and anxiety.

The one thing I have to say if you are going to a psych doctor is try to get the best one you can - teaching hospitals are great and then learn all you can about the medications from the internet.

http://www.recovery-inc.org/

This group has helped me more than anything except the medication. I think it is a wonderful program and it is free and in most cities. You can also have them send you a quote of the day which I ALWAYS read even if I don't want to.

And the only thing about being politically active is I tend to get real mad and holding on to anger makes my symptoms worse even if I get a slight high initially from the anger. It is a real test to stay involved and not hold on to anger but I think that we persons with depression and anxiety need to drop it as best we can.

9. thanks for the post
I've had no meds since 2000. Thank you for the link... I'm gonna check it out.

As far as the politics go, I can never drop it. I enjoy the process of good policy, and I feel that politics is the best way to help the most people. While I'm a dem, i am really much more of a green or socialist. I could just as easily be a republican, as I disagree with the dem party (both nationally and locally) almost as much as I disagree with the republicans. I am basically anti-conservative, pro- big government. This makes me more of a dem then a puke, but both parties make me  . There are some good dems out there (John Hall is running against Sue Kelly; I am in Maurice Hinchey's district), and I enjoy helping the left (and the left out).

7. Hello mdmc
One thing I always recommend is Cognitive Behavior Therapy. It has been proven effective for an amazing array of problems including OCD, depression, phobias, PTSD, eating disorders, and much more. While it's usually recommended that you learn the techniques from a therapist, you can learn them from a book (which is much more economical--particularly since you noted that you're currently out of work).

Here are a few titles you might want to check out:

Mind Over Mood: Change How You Feel by Changing the Way You Think by Greenberger and Padesky (I learned CBT via this book.)

Feeling Good by David Burns

The Feeling Good Handbook by David Burns

Best wishes, and I'm always available for questions. :hi:

12. Do you really believe that?
That you can end your life any time you want? It's harder than you think.

14. It is the inability to self medicate
right now that really pisses me off. What a few tokes of pot could do to my mental heath and general well being are beyond question. having to fear a possible drug test at work makes me really pissed at the fuckers who are running the world!
