Schizophrenia test is a 'possibility'

A urine test may be developed for schizophrenia

British scientists have made a discovery that could lead to a
screening test for the serious mental health illness schizophrenia.
Researchers have found people with the mental illness have
significantly higher levels of sulphite in their urine than healthy
individuals.

The substance appears to mark an inherent trait rather than being a
symptomatic by-product of the disease.

It means in future doctors may be able to spot a predisposition to
schizophrenia and provide early treatment before the illness becomes
serious.

But doctors acknowledge there may be difficult ethical considerations
to screening for schizophrenia...

except that it gives employer's another route for screening out job applicants or showing current employees the door. Insurance companies would probably like it too, since they could identify applicants who might possibly, at some time in the future, file more in claims than they pay in fees.
