1. A.) Do Republicans EVER take responsibility for ANYTHING
and B.) is Felix's campaign manager really named Dick Wadhams? If so, that's the best name EVER! Simply perfection considering who his boss it.

Wouldn't it be cool if tons of people started wearing this in VA?

7. "Allen's racial slur could hand Virginia to Democrats"
Financial Times, p 4 (bottom) headline. Decent size article, not a little blurb in the corner.

Heh heh. Guess people are seeing the real George Allen. (Sadly, some will be even more inclined to vote for him...but I'm hoping that's a small and steadily decreasing number.)

primary. As one of the people who still hasn't really forgiven Webb and doesn't trust him, I can see that he might get votes of people who are further to the right but sickened by Allen who might not have seen Miller as a viable alternative.

Since November 2004, there were many "Kerry was right" moments, where we all felt personally vindicated as well - here, for me, this may be a "Kerry was right" moment, where I was on the wrong side.

The other thing is this:

http://www.timesdispatch.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=RTD%2FMGArticle%2FRTD_BasicArticle&%09s=1045855935264&c=MGArticle&cid=1149190266405&path=!news!politics

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jim Webb promised a "24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week" campaign after he sends his son off to Iraq next week.

The promise brought boisterous cheers from about 200 Democrats who gathered behind a bungalow at 4900 Radford Ave. that will serve as Webb's Richmond-area headquarters.

Webb's only son, Jimmy, is a lance corporal in the Marine Corps. Webb also has three daughters.

"If half the people in Congress had to send a child to Iraq, the foreign policy would be drastically different," Webb said.

I have to say, I really am scared for his son. I hope nothing bad happens to him -- I think he may be going on dangerous patrols or counterinsurgency operations, which really put him in harm's way (not everyone in Iraq has to do this -- a lot of people in Iraq stay mostly on the bases, so they're in less danger -- not so with Webb's son).

I think a LOT of people will end up swinging their vote for Webb based on this information alone. Webb just needs more money (Stephen King and John Grisham, fellow novelists are going to hold a fundraiser for him -- that's cool and nice), and he just needs help with talking about the issues and debating (hmmm . . . another area JK could help IF he had time).

9. OMG! How is Felix the Sen ever going to get out of this one
Warning!!!

Very nasty and deeply, deeply offensive racial comments in this DKos diary. But these are the 'friends' that Barfbag hangs around with. You have to see this to see that this is not laughing matter and that Allen has had some extremely bad friends in the past and has no business whatsoever being a US Senator.

I don't see him recovering from this. The discovery of that picture is just toxic. The fact that it was Felix himself who wanted the pic is just unbelievable.

11. They are a very nasty group of people
I can believe that this slime was ever mentioned as a candidate for President by the "party of values". It was clear he was not an asset to any committee he was on, but this is surprising. He is toxic.

12. I hope that Webb is ready and willing to play hardball with this
Because I can see this being the sort of thing to destroy Barfbag's political career for good. It just needs to be handled the right way by the Webb campaign and the Dem Party.

13. Rox, you just made my heart flutter
End Barfbag forever? No more moronic diatribes in Senate Foreign Relations Committee on how holy it is to 'stay the course' and continue the occupation of Iraq. No more idiotic floor speeches about whatever passed through his maw that day that seemed like thought to him. No more football references vis a vis foreign policy.?

If Felix does go down, I'm friggin getting drunk that day. (BTW, I don't drink. But for the 'Barfbag is no more' event, I'll take it up.) Drinks will be on me and we can party all night long.

17. I debating putting that up, even with a warning
That speech is despicable and hate-mongering of the lowest order.

I don't type the epitaph that Sen. Allen used because it is intentionally hurtful speech. Intentionally hurtful. But you can't just turn your back and pretend that sometimes the ugly squirmy things at the bottom of the box don't get out into the general population every now and then and try to infect others with their slime. Sometimes you gotta see this stuff so you can fight it.

But still, that warning was for real. This is not for those with weak stomachs.

Gawd, what a friggin nightmare.

20. Allen should be made to
apologize to the entire country for denying he knew what the slur meant (feigning ignorance to racism).

Where the hell is Bush and why hasn't he condemned this entire episode? Disgraceful lot!

16. Oh, that's just godawful!
I mean -- he wrote that filth NOW? Somebody needs to send that to The Daily Show. They had this funny segment about how racists are wimpy now using weird words like Macaca, and then they played Strom Thurmond back in 1948. The Senior Black Correspondent said "Now THAT is a motherf***ing racist!". Well, this friend of Felix is just as bad as Strom, and really even worse, because that kind of talk is NOT tolerated anymore.

In regards to the Webb campaign, I think he should only approach it the way that Indian poster at Kos did (I referenced in a thread a little ways down), in a positive light of what Indian Americans have contributed to America, and how singling his campaign worker out like that was really quite cruel. But I guess I think it is up to bloggers and opinionmakers in Virginia to keep this story alive and keep it going, and hopefully Webb can just sit back and watch it all unfold. I would like to see more local coverage. There WAS a good op-ed in my paper today from an Indian American professor, but . . . it wasn't as good as the Kos diary which showed more outrage.

18. This in the comments spews hatred of Mass. and Gays
http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2006/8/30/125558/900/64#c64

Since I love "Country Roads" by John Denver, I only skimmed it, but it is NASTY. So this guy has a radio program, and it's allowed?

19. Hahahahahaha!
Speaking as a Mass resident, ahm, this issue isn't really on the radar for most voters. (Oh, Gay Marriage, or if you prefer, Marriage Equality, is just not an issue except for the religiously strange.)

Ahm, I still can't figure out when my 23 year marriage is going to break up due to the fact that there are legally married same-sex couples in my town. So far, the 'Gay vibes' haven't hit me and ahm, I'm still happily married. (Maybe next week. Maybe those 'Gay vibes' just take a while to take effect.)

Hahahahaha! What a putz!

I only wonder why it's always Mass. and/or California that get bashed. It's almost a badge of honor these days for Massholes, considering where the slams originate :-)

I want to see how quickly other Repubs disassociate themselves from him and this association. Do you remember the remarks Sen. Lott made that lost him the leadership position? This is much, much worse IMO.
