Lieberman hit back at JK on Face the Nation today.

I finally got around to watching my recording of the show. Schieffer mentioned what JK said about him sounding like Cheney. He came back with, something like, "that's just politics, from someone who has ambitions of his own". And he told about what old buddies he and JK were.

You know the way Lieberman talks--kind of know-it-all, dismissive. To him it was just a political attack with no other reason than that JK wanted to score points for himself with Democrats. But Joe--it is a true statement, is it not?? As for scoring points, I think JK's motive was primarily, if not solely to help get Lamont elected.

I guess the truth stings sometimes. He wants to sound like Cheney to get those repub voters; he just doesn't want to appear to want them. He's the one who wants to score political points, and he's the one with too much ambition.

Asked about Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., who was quoted as saying that Lieberman echoes Republicans, Lieberman said it was "just plain politics by somebody who has ambitions of his own."

"I voted 90 percent of the time with a majority of Democrats in the U.S. Senate," he said.

5. I caught that little ditty myself. Lieberman just can't be that stupid.

He has to know he is hurting the party? he has to know that he may alienate people in his party and he has to know the Re pubs are playing him up for themselves. Perhaps, he doesn't care or perhaps he is fighting the new party strategy by trying to appear to be "the maverick" in the party. Whatever, I can only hope he is brought down- big time and the Re pubs and the media are left with nothing.
Imus had the nerve today to compare Lamont to Karr, the man who confessed to the Ramsey killing.

It is not funny.

I caught Imus this morning briefly - when Charles covered Kerry's Face the Nation, the segment covered was that Iraq was not the center of the WoT, Iraq was in a civil war. Imus did NOT cut it off as he does when he doesn't like comments. Then later when he spoke about Lieberman, he didn't mention Kerry and wasn't whining about the Democrats not backing him. (Given his comments about all Democrats who won't back Lieberman last week, he was not mean to Kerry.)

It was interesting with Meachum though - he was commenting on the fact that McCain was asked on MTP about campaigning for Schlesinger. Meachum said something like - McCain's natural honesty ... made excuses why he couldn't .. but he's friends with Lieberman ... can't say that's why he won't campaign.

Obviously Meachum was unaware that in 1996, McCain answered truthfully and quickly - that he wouldn't campaign for Weld, as he would never campaign against John Kerry.

7. Mccain is doing the Presidential runner thing. This means you

don't really say anything of any value because it might be used against you later. Obviously though, he hasn't given a thought to older information coming back to haunt him.

He is situationally loyal to friends, depends on how the situation benefits McCain.
