OT: Something really weird happened to me last night(wiretapping)

I was talking to my son who lives in Queens, and as usual we have a great political, philosophical mom, son talk.(LOL)

We talked about Kerry of course and then he went on about a book he was reading called "Holy War" the author is an ex nun. So we are discussing religion from, Catholic, Jewish, protestant, Islamic, and he is going as far back as Mecca. It was a great discussion. Of course the topic of Bush and his messing up this country and the world also came under discussion, we were on the phone for about an hour when all of a sudden right when we went into discussing my son and his girlfriend and how he met her parents in Pennsylvania last weekend, I heard a hangup CLICK. I thought my son had accidentally hung up, as he was no longer there. So I wait a few seconds and called him back and asked him what happened, I said, did you accidentally push end on your cell phone? He said no, I thought you hung up.

We both thought the same thing and that yes maybe we were being listened to. He was telling me him and his friends were talking about this because of weird clicks and stuff on their phones, and they had come to a conclusion if you mention certain names or words more then 3 times that is when you would here the different clicks. Well we mentioned it all last night and much more then 3 times, we used Bush, muslims, terrorists, Islamic, extremists, etc. I mean we were really having a heavy conversation.

Then he goes to me, I feel a bit paranoid now, and I said to him, don't we have done nothing wrong and don't let this make you feel that way. What is really sad is that we are made to think that yes, we may have been listened in on, and that we are losing more and more of our freedoms each day. That is wrong, and it really angers me.

1. I have had "issues" with several long distance calls I have had

with my mother and daughter in recent months. I am by nature very cynical when it comes to this administration and I would not put it past them to be listening in or recording bit of the conversations. Remember, privacy rights mean nothing to these people.

2. This is pretty scary.

The sad thing is: they use scare tactics to make us fall into lock step with our Republican-controlled government, but instead we are becoming more and more afraid of our government.
