Oh my God. There is something SERIOUSLY wrong with G. Felix Allen, part 2
Edited on Wed Aug-16-06 04:20 PM by WildEyedLiberal
"George hoped someday to become a dentist. George said he saw dentistry as a perfect profession - getting paid to make people suffer.”

Sounds like something a lefty blogger would say about Felix, doesn't it?

Actually, that quote is courtesy George Allen's sister.

George Allen's sister documents her brother's bully tactics

From the article:

Referring to George’s early leadership skills, Jennifer wrote: “We all obeyed George. If we didn't, we knew he would kill us. Once, when Bruce refused to go to bed, George hurled him through a sliding glass door. Another time, when Gregory refused to go to bed, George tackled him and broke his collarbone. Another time, when I refused to go to bed, George dragged me up the stairs by my hair.”

....

Explaining why she is scared of heights, Ms. Allen writes that “Ever since my brother George held me over the railing at Niagara Falls, I’ve had a fear of heights.”

There are more in the article.

I always knew Allen was stupid, mean, and bigoted, but I had NO IDEA he was a fucking sociopath. This is right up there with Catkiller Frist.

I NEVER want to hear about "FAMILY VALUES" from these evil monsters EVER AGAIN!

8. Hey -- locals are really up in arms about this macaca thing
There were FIVE letters to the editor in the paper today condemning George Allen! Wow, I hope this translates into people showing up in scores to the polls come November to vote for Webb. It's to the point where we consider Allen to be an embarrassment to our state. I hope the racist vote doesn't go up, too, though.

10. What I want to know is WHY isn't this being BLARED on TV???
Why isn't this being looped endlessly and parsed by every talking head on cable news? They can find the time to endlessly insinuate that Democrats are pro-terrorist and question John Kerry's war heroism but they can't be bothered to report actual FACT - NOT SPECULATION - that George Allen is a disgusting racist pig?

I am firmly convinced that our media is the number one enabler of Republican fascism.

I'm really glad to hear Allen is getting blowback from this in Virginia. He should NOT be able to recover from this. If Webb is smart he'll use it...

It's a damn fucking shame the media doesn't seem interested in this, though.

13. This is another good article in the paper today
http://home.hamptonroads.com/stories/story.cfm?story=109357&ran=126594&zr=1

You might have to do a quick register to read it. Here are a couple of excerpts:

For Allen, the popularity of the footage on the Internet, circulating via e-mail, forced mainstream media to pay attention, Thompson said.

Traditionally, "this is the kind of thing that would have never made it " on a national newscast, he said.

Allen said Wednesday night in Norfolk that he had met with several Indian community leaders in Northern Virginia earlier in the day.

"They wanted to ask me about the context of the remark," Allen said, adding that he assured them that no offense was intended.

At the Norfolk event, no videographer from the Webb campaign was present. When Allen was asked if he apologized to Sidarth, he said, "I was hoping he would be here today so I could say it to him."

Local Indian leaders were shocked by Allen's comments and suggested that his remarks could affect their vote.

"I'm so mad! Is he crazy, or what?" said Jagdish A. Singh, president of Asian Indians of Hampton Roads. "It was not a slip-up. He knew exactly what he was saying. It was totally irresponsible on his part to disrespect a young man who was there to cover his event."

She referred to Sidarth, a 20-year-old University of Virginia senior of Indian descent who was born and raised in Fairfax County.

"I was shocked. There were over 100 white people, and he was the only brown person " at the event, said Dr. Dilip K. Sarkar of Norfolk, a member of Gov. Timothy M. Kaine's Virginia Asian Advisory Board. "This was definitely a racially charged, insensitive statement."

...And in Virginia, we have a presidential aspirant who's more crap than Bush, and a bigger idiot, boggling as that may be. I speak of course of the man who henceforth shall be known as Senator Shithead.

15. local poll
http://www.wdbj7.com/Global/story.asp?S=5293378

News-7 Poll: Sen. Allen remarks "inappropriate"

A News-7 SurveyUSA poll found that a majority of Virginians (56%) had heard about Senator George Allen's remarks to a campaign volunteer for his opponent, Jim Webb.

Of the 309 people who were familiar with the story, two-thirds (67%) thought it was inappropriate for Sen. Allen to refer to the college student of Indian descent as "Macaca," but the respondents were more evenly divided over whether the comments were a racial slur.

Allen has apologized for the remark. Half those surveyed said he needs to say more, while 46% thought the apology was sufficient.

While respondents were evenly divided on whether the incident will hurt the Senator's re-election changes or have no effect, 61% thought the comments would hurt Allen's chances in a campaign for President of the United States.

The poll found that Senator Allen had a net job approval of Plus 9. SurveyUSA pollsters characterize this as being "down very slightly" from the Plus 13 recorded in SurveyUSA's 08/11/06 - 08/13/06 50-state polling. SurveyUSA says the change "may or may not represent real movement."

16. Holy toledo -- Webb within FIVE POINTS!!!!
This is awesome!!

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/8/18/102916/642

There is a possibility I can get EVERYONE I know to vote for Webb. Here's my spiel:

"Webb is kind of a little too conservative for me. He's a Reagan Democrat, you know. And along with many realists from the Reagan/Bush I era, he thought the invasion of Iraq was ill advised. And that Allen guy is stupid and a racist, really an embarrassment to the state . . . "

Allen's Apology

Virginia Republican Senator George Allen is apologizing for repeatedly referring to a 20-year-old Indian-American campaign volunteer as "macaca" — the name for a breed of primate that sometimes doubles in Europe as a racial slur against North Africans.
