He was on TJ three times and he treated him ok. He even referred to him as "my man John Kerry" after the 1st debate. I think Tom wanted JK to be Clinton (campaingning like 1992 and 96).
I remember the first time JK called in (around August 04). Tom questioned him about why he wasn't fighting back against the Swifties. He liked his ideas regarding HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and health care, but didn't like how he handled the smears.
The second interview had him explaining about Iraq and asking about the rally in Philly with B. Clinton. Tom told JK to tell him hello cause it was his first public appearance since Bill's heart operation.
The last interview was on Election Day (sigh) and I remember Kerry being really enthusiastic about winning. The last question Tom asked was do you think they (Rove, the GOP) were going to do something sneaky? Kerry said that he was just holding his breath and see what happens after that.
I wish he had some audio archives available, but he doesn't. There was a thread I found in the DU archives that had good feedback from the interview.

It goes back to The First Black president adoration during the Clinton years. Blacks related to Clinton, cause like them, he came from a tough, yet humble upbringing. And there were black leaders that defended him during the impeachment trial (and Lieberman).
That said, Tom's support for Hillary (and Bill) is support for wanting him back in the WH cause life was better under Bill with peace and prosperity, the saxophone and smooth demeanor.
