Gee, Kerry called Lamont LAST NIGHT
Wonder why DKos and MYDD and the other big blogs forgot to mention that.

From Firedoglake (And Jane was there after all)

Last night after Ned Lamont’s victory the Connecticut primary, the phone calls started pouring in from key Democrats offering their support. Frank Lautenberg, John Kerry and Barbara Boxer all called to congratulate Ned.

Boxer actually offered to come to Connecticut and campaign for Ned. Considering her close relationship with Lieberman, that is quite a concession. It is certainly not a good harbinger for Joe’s indy run.

Finally, Chris Dodd has agreed to take the lead in pushing Joe to abandon his current course of action. It’s a tough decision for Dodd and he should be commended for doing so. The three key House races in Connecticut are the most threatened by Lieberman’s indy bid; good on Dodd for showing some leadership with regard to state party politics and doing so.

************

Wow, a phone call right way and a strong statement. What a good Democrat. Too bad some blogs don't credit all Democrats for their support equally.

2. Kos is disingenuous??
Say it ain't so!

Seriously, it's disgusting that he "conveniently" forgot to mention this, and that fact should be repeated ad nauseum in his little playground.

10. playground--I like it!
Or better yet, make that "playpen"! I don't like Dems who discriminate against parts of the party (and a major one, at that!) ;)

5. Do you want to add that to my dkos thread?
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 11:03 AM by whometense
Or write a separate diary on it?

If you don't have time, let me know and I'll add it.

Added: Good for Boxer, and for Dodd!! Not that I expected they'd do anything different...

when I read the comments. Then I was referred to Firedoglake (And Jane posted this. She was there, after all.)

11. Dodd did good--I saw him on that news conference this morning.
He's Joe's friend, but he's loyal to his party first. But nobody can say he stabbed his friend in the back. He gave him a fair chance.

18. I would think this was hard for Dodd.
They've been partners in crime for a long time. But good for him. It was the right thing to do.

8. I KNEW it!! I just couldn't see Kerry not calling Lamont last night --
so looks like the tree falling in the forest theory was right.

Thanks Tay for the info. I would also say that you can disregard what I said in the other thread because it was based on faulty info (or omission).

Not to be a baby, but this just isn't fair, that way he was black balled.

9. Kos and MyDD need to be reminded that they have an obligation
to report accurate news- not picked-over, biased news.
These two sites should be watch and called out when they play personal favorites in what are suppose to be accurate news accounts. Both of them, with their enormous heads, are more concerned with winning then with the quality and positions (or most positions) the candidates take. For them, winning is all, to hell with party and loyalty.

19. They are not news sources
They are both set up to promote a viewpoint. They are biased, not objective.

The problem is that some liberals think they are relatively non-biased. Even if they realize they have a pro-liberal bias, they don't realize that they play favorites in this manner and distort information pertaining to one Democrat over another.

Rove, Bush offer to help Lieberman?
Posted 1:18 pm
ABC News ran an item this morning highlighting a very odd offer of political support for Joe Lieberman. (via Hotline)

According to a close Lieberman adviser, the President's political guru, Karl Rove, has reached out to the Lieberman camp with a message straight from the Oval Office: "The boss wants to help. Whatever we can do, we will do."

This hasn't been confirmed by the campaign or anyone else, so I'm going to hold off on rushing to judgment, but what struck me as the most interesting part of the ABC report wasn't the last seven words, but rather, the first six.

Sure, if Rove really did call the Lieberman campaign, on the president's behalf, offering campaign support, it's a pretty huge deal, but this leak came to ABC by way of "a close Lieberman advisor."

In other words, the Lieberman campaign wants to get the word out that the senator is considering accepting help from the Bush White House. Even if it's not true, the fact that the Lieberman team wants people to believe it speaks volumes.

Lieberman's outreach to Connecticut Republicans has formally begun.

A complete rat bastard. If true.

13. Hmmm . . . what kind of approval ratings does Bush have in Conn.?
Can't see it being much higher than Mass.'s. I hope this is true, because if Rove/Bush help Lieberman, then Lamont will DEFINITELY win. Lots of Independents and Republicans in Conn. hate Bush. The only way Lieberman had a shot was to be a true nonpartisan Independent -- that will be destroyed with any perceived help from the WH.

Ladies and gentlemen -- Lieberman is going DOWN. Any Conn. people here think the same (Discerning Christian?)?
