I have to burn off some vacation time this year because of changes at work. So I have to burn off 4 weeks between now and Dec 31st. That's why I can take half days and stuff. (Though it will be tricky. I will need a LOT of help to make this work.)
Ahm, FedUp, ahm, accident of geography? Ahm, I did something really good in a past life? Ahm, coincidence? I have no idear what accounts for the good fortune of being able to see the Good Senator on this rather increasing schedule. Ahm, am I getting a swelled up head? (Pride goeth before a fall. I really believe that. If I screw up, then this will not continue. I will try not to screw it up.)
As this will happen on a weekday, we will need massive help. As Faneuil Hall is still not really a wifi area, we will have problems. There are wifi areas that are accessible all around Faneuil, but that Hall is catch-as-catch-can. I have asked Our Intrepid Interns to go to Faneuil and see if they get a signal on a weekday. No signal, no live-blog. Then it's plan B, which is to go to the known wifi sites or hotspots in the area and file stories after the fact.
I have a cell phone and can be outside of the building at need to allow someone on the web to hear the speech in progress. No internet for me, but this is a sort of second-hand live-blog possibility. (Just covering the contigencies.)
Also, I need someone I can send pictures to right after the event who can them resize them and fix them in a photoshop like program and then post them. I learned last time that trying to be all things to all people is just wrong and detrimental to the effort as a whole. I need a volunteer to take these pics and fix them up and then make them available to any blog or site that wants them. (I learned something from the last time. Yeah!)
Also, someone else has to be Julie, your cruise and entertainment director. I can't do any coordinating of who is going and how we meet up and possibly have a coffee or lunch. I just can't do it. It takes up too much time. (I think it was a cross between dumb and selfish of me to think I could do this last time. I have to concentrate on one thing. It's just too fast an event to do more than that and unfair to anyone actually waiting for me to get things done. Sigh, again, I learned something.)
And I am counting my chickens before they are hatched. I have asked for permission to live-blog, but have not heard back yet. I will know more tomorrow.
All help is needed and wanted. Let me see what I hear from the press office tomorrow and go from there.
