2. oh wow!
That was great! The phrase "full-throated call to arms" comes to mind! :)

For anybody who read the Tomasky article in the May American Prospect on going back to the idea of "common good": do you think JK read that article too? He had some good lines on it.
I believe it's a very important concept with great potential. Go back to the traditional FDR-era belief that government and people should all work together for the common good--it's something we've lost in our more recent focus on the rights of individual interest groups.

3. That part was great
I liked that he has gone to common good, moral values, community etc as opposed to the more religious stuff that was in that "part" before. This really is a fabulous speech. I think he mayt want to take that crowd with him!

Thanks Prosense, for the link

5. I think he generates that kind of crowd wherever he goes now.
There is a lot of support out there. We saw it in Boston and they saw it in Los Angeles and in Iowa and Ohio recently. Not bad for a guy nobody likes.

It's not "anybody but Bush" anymore and Senator Kerry looks a Hell of a lot better than any of the alternatives out there.

6. It really was!
Glad the poster in GD-P provided the link! It was definitely not a speech (and reaction) to miss!

7. I just watched this.
Nothing like a little Kerry first thing in the morning to get the day started right! How in the hell could anyone ever say that this man is "boring" when he speaks? Every time I hear him speak he inspires me to be a full participant in the democratic process and in our nation's future. You really can't ask for any more than that.

11. I agree that complaint never made sense
and it gets repeated constantly. It would be understandable if he were merely competent or average, but he among the most eloquent spokesmen we have and it's natural. I remember one of the awful SFRC Bolton hearing days, where after Lugar was not letting people talk, that Kerry alone moved away from the obvious anger asking others to think about the history of the Senate and the committee. This was not a prepared speech and was informal, but it was eloquent and compelling.

Both Clinton and Edwards are very smooth, but can you remember a line of any of their speeches? How many lines of Kerry's 1971 speech are instantly recognizable? I think this "Kerry is a bad speaker" is supporters of other Democrats using Rove-like tactics attacking a strength. It almost has to backfire though as it sets a low bar, and he actually blows people away. (I think Edwards at the convention suffered from the opposite. I know I expected a great speech and was disappointed with a slightly better than mediocre one.)

8. Thanks, that was wonderful! The crowd LOVED him!
It's pretty discouraging to listen to the trolls and the lefty freepers bash Kerry, so it's always nice to see how real people react to the senator. They can't get enought of him! I've seen a few other 2008 potentials speak recently on C-Span and a couple of them spoke locally here in NH. They get polite applause but there just isn't the same kind of enthusiasm that Senator Kerry generates. When JK speaks everybody is energized.

Another thing I noticed, Kerry's got quite a photographic memory. He recites an entire speech without more than a glance at his notes. And his performance just gets better and better. Any reminents of senatorial dust have been completely brushed off. Next he'll be doing Shakespeare. ;)
