<U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wisc., and former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner were the keynote speakers at the Democratic state convention Saturday.
Other Democrats who are considering running for president also have endorsed the state's first-in-the-nation tradition. But the Democratic National Committee is considering scheduling one or two earlier caucuses in states that are more racially diverse.
Feingold said New Hampshire offers a valuable chance for voters to assess candidates in person.
"If we let the presidential primary turn into a big media war, we will have lost one of the most important parts of our Democratic system," he said.>
