KERRY DINES IN SOBE, TALKS 2008 STRATEGY

That tall, familiar man walking out of Escopazzo on South Beach Thursday night, posing for cellphone pictures with reveling passersby? None other than 2004 Democratic presidential contender John Kerry, who's considering another run in 2008.

His dinner with national fundraisers, including Kirk Wagar, Bob Farmer, Milton Ferrell and Alex Heckler, was one of several meetings with South Florida supporters on Thursday and Friday. He also spent time with lawyers Ellen and Philip Freidin, strategist Joe Garcia, and lawyer Mike Eidson, and he spoke at a fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy and Sen. Ted Kennedy.

''The lessons he learned in 2004 make him incredibly formidable, and John was certainly open to the idea'' of running for the presidency in 2008, Wagar said.

Emily Lazar, who books "The Colbert Report" guests, said she was in discussions with a raft of likely 2008 presidential candidates who were interested in coming on, including Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Russell D. Feingold (D-Wis.), Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-Del.), Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) and John F. Kerry (D-Mass.).

2. Thanks for the tidbits. What a busy guy. Does he ever stop?
Oh, and that would be interesting, Senator Kerry on the Colbert Report. I just hope he watches him a couple of times so he feels comfortable with him. IMO,from watching him, Colbert is very good, but difficult to talk with a times.

3. Give him the video from when Al Franken was on
Al was in on the joke about Colbert and played along wonderfully. That was a great show that night. You have to play along that Colbert is the imaginery Bill O'Reilly and play the opposition. I think this would be great fun!
