Likewise, Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts has renounced his own vote in favor of the Iraq war. He has also proposed an exit strategy for Iraq. His troop withdrawal plan is ''among the most aggressive and progressive. Without a doubt, John Kerry has burnished his Iraq credentials for progressives," says Tom Mattzie, Washington director of MoveOn.org, which had the nation's fourth-richest PAC in 2005.

One of Kerry's major assets is his mostly liberal, activist-donor list of three million names. The 2004 Democratic nominee's last-ditch call for a filibuster against Supreme Court nominee Samuel A. Alito Jr. may have failed, but for his fund-raising efforts it was a huge success: His campaign added nearly 80,000 names.

A long article on how everybody is courting the left wing of the party. A lot of the same stuff on how Feingold is the darling of many, Amstrong is blogging for Warner, Bayh posted on Huffington, A lot about Clinton and Edwards too, with Edwards's call for hotel union and kos's dismissing Clinton...

Nothing very original, I would probably not have posted it, except for the comments about Kerry.

Not a lot, but a notable comment by the person from MoveOn concerning Kerry's plan for Iraq. Why dont more people see the truth?

Obviously, the buzz for them is on Warner and Edwards, though (Southern strategy oblige, I guess).

1. And us!
That was a great article. It really touched a lot of bases and made the case for getting in touch with your 'netroots.' I highly, highly, recommend it.

3. I am expecting new things in the very near future on Iraq
The foundation is all there. It's just that the rooms and views have all shifted lately. I expect a new speech on this within the next month.

5. New is going to be necessary
Bush is still in status quo mode. Iraq is very fluid and anything can happen as we see every day. Plans are going to have to adjust to match the reality. Having said that, the one thing that will not change is that American presence is inflaming the situation.

4. I think you got that correct- Southern strategy. Why our party hangs
onto this notion, I just don't understand. It is going to take a lot more than running a Southern Democrat to win over those people. It worked for Clinton just because of Clinton's personality. But they will not buy into this strategy again. I lived in North Carolina and South Carolina for about five years, and I can tell you, we will not reach them until we connect with the churches in the South.
