John Kerry Joins Congressional Black Caucus to Highlight Voting Rights Act and Elections in the Gulf Coast After Hurricane Katrina

Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) will participate in a press conference hosted by Congressman Danny K. Davis (D-Ill.) on the Voting Rights Act and post-Katrina elections in the Gulf Coast on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 10:00 a.m.

Kerry will join Congressman Davis, Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and members of the Congressional Black Caucus to discuss an effective approach to ensuring that the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act includes strong measures that protect the rights of all voters in every community, especially in the post-Katrina era.

Kerry will also make remarks at a symposium on the Voting Rights Act hosted by the CBC on Thursday, March 9, 2006, at 12:30 pm in the Hart Senate Office Building, Room 902.
