Biden said he might vote for McCain if he gets the nomination
He said that if he and McCain both win their nominationa, they will do what Barry Goldwater and JFK agreed to do, make joint appearances in 30 places. I never heard this before. He said if the choice was him and McCain, the American people couldn't lose.

SO, how will his conditional endorsement of McCain go over well in DU?

1. Biden will endorse "I trust Bush" McCain? Biden is a traitor.

Does this mean he will endorse McCain over any Democrat?

3. It's more that he runs his mouth off

When Biden was on, Imus mentioned that he (Imus) had told McCain yesterday that he would vote for him. Biden replied with "I might vote for him too." Then Imus said, but aren't you running for President. (What was strange is he PROJECTED no enthusiasm about running. (Others have demurred about saying they're running - but then always sound positive about something they're doing. It might just be that it is early morning and he was going into a closed briefing that he only learned about yesterday, but he really sounded unenthusiatic. Wonder if he is having trouble raising money.)

On edit, he TOLD Imus he only learned of the closed briefing yesterday, but that's because he isn't in the loop on the SFRC and didn't see Tay Tay's post. Or, he was lying to Imus.

The logical assumption is that there is at least one Democrat, who he would not vote for if McCain were the candidate. There have been threads in DU saying that we need our leaders to stop saying that McCain is great, but this goes beyond it.

7. I agree with that, why are we puffing McCain up and making him
out to be unbeatable? It makes no sense at all. We should be pointing out his weaknesses and unappealing nature.Do these DU McCain promoters secretly want him to win?

2. What's wrong with Biden?
Except, of course, that he likes too much the sound of his voice.

Did he check with McCain about 30 joint appearances anyway?

4. He said they both agreed to it
He really seems to have a problem with reality or at least telling the truth.

5. I thought this was a very stupid thing to say, it shows what and idiot
and grandstander he actually is. Kerry is still the better candidate. McCain and Biden are from the same mold-yuck!:puke:

6. Biden can't win.
He is the biggest bloviator in the Senate. He never gets to the point without a detour at every rhetorical rest stop and fast food joint on the road. I like him, but he is not 'presidential.' (No, I can't define 'presidential,' but as the Supreme Court wrote about pornography, 'I know it when I see it.')

11. But .. But He's Irish Catholic and he can tell you
stories about that to explain ANY issue, except they have no relevance.

As to Presidential, I totally agree. Biden is just totally uninspiring.

13. So -- "Irish Catholic" is to Biden as
"football" is to George Allen?

(sorry, couldn't resist...)

14. Yeah! Imagine a Biden/Allen match up
The debates would likely cause people on both sides to throw shoes at TVs. (When they are thrown might even be bi-partisan.)

15. Yeah. Not pretty. Would be worse than the Carter-Ford "debates."
Jesus.

8. OMG -- this so proves that Biden WAS the one pushing for McCain as VP
I always thought that story wasn't completely kosher. McCain and Kerry are SO different politically, especially about the war. And yet, there were all of those rumors that Kerry wanted McCain as VP. I had read that it was all Biden's idea. Looks like that has pretty much been proven here. I still wonder how serious Kerry was about having McCain as a VP, and how much of it was a combination of Biden and McCain stabbing him in the back. By the way, I am confident that with every "Kerry is a nice regular guy" story we can match it with a "Joe Biden is an arrogant, rude, vindictive asshole". I saw it with my own eyes on C-Span! I can't imagine ANYONE wanting to work for him.

12. It made no sense to me because the only thing Kerry
repeatedly said to reporters was that he would say nothing about who he was considering. Even one of his daughters said he hadn't told her who he was considering. The other thing was that the McCain comments kept growing - until he was saying that Kerry wanted him to be Secretary of Defense as well - then commenting that that might not be legal. Their differences would have made this impossible.
