but I never thought that vote was for war, in fact like BLM I thought it would prevent it.
At the time of that vote 70% of Americans where for responding to Sadam one way or another.
To me personally, I was against war, but I was not totally against this resolution. There were rumors going around that bush was going to go in as early as November, and the Congress said hold on a minute, you must take these steps before and that war will be the last option if all the other steps fail. I myself thought that the Inspections would be the answer, and bring to an end the talk of war.
The thing that went wrong with this is that no matter what results Bush heard on WMD, diplomacy, etc., he was going to war no matter what.Bush is the warmonger and yes many Repubs and a few Dems although I think only a couple are still on the Bush bandwagon (Lieberman, Nelson,).
JK warned Bush in his speech on the Senate floor, that if he abused this resolution that he JK would be the first to speak out, and he did.
I don't think JK thought a president would so abuse his powers. Kerry respects the office of the presidency, I don't think he thought a president would ever abuse his power as Bush has. Bush has done so much damage to that title. It will be hard for any future president to get the full trust of the people back again.
Just my 2 cents.
