I thought we should have a new thread for JK's 2nd Kos Diary
I don't mean to hijack any other threads, but i thought it might get lost in the comments that JK posted ANOTHER diary at Kos called "Thank you". That one is pushing 500 comments already, and seems to be as well received (for the most part) as yesterday's! looks like he and THK are reading all the comments.

2. I think it is cool that JK actually replied
to at least a couple posters (this was earlier in the day). And why is it that crazy people always want to show up a ruin a nice thing. Oh well, I'm sure JK can handle being insulted by a few idiots - like he said, he's been through worse.

8. This has to be a fun
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 05:59 PM by ProSense
way to spend some time: connecting with supporters, listening to people's real concerns and getting a laugh out of some of the really nonsensical posts. You know, the posts by the ones who are intentionally trying really hard to find fault by using faulty logic and being insulting in the process. They're very transparent. So to them I'd say, please step away from the spin and leave it to the experts.

11. Teresa's getting a lot of love in those comments, too
It must be heartwarming for JK to see those comments about THK. I have this image of the two of them around their computer at home teasing each other about which one the Kos community likes best......

16. That's a cute thought.
I love them both equally: I'm glad THK is focused on philanthropic efforts and I know JK is going to be a great president.

I don't know what the poster's intent was, but there was a post stating something to this effect:

Senator, could you buy CNN for us....

3. Did you see this post on DKos? Wow!
Dead -on

Senator Kerry (4.00 / 3)

Welcome to a great community. You will find some wonderful insights here if you look for them. If I may, here are a few pointers to look for when reading the diaries.

Don't just read the front page or recommended diaries, some of the regular diaries have some insightful topics and/or comments that won't be found on the front page.

If a recent diary has a lot of comments attached, check it out, but don't use that as a gauge of what to read. Some of the best topics get overlooked just because of the size of the community here.

The community is varied and sometimes there are those that are led to a post like a shark to blood. The only reason they are posting is to flame the topic or, more likely, the diarist. While some deserve, others don't, and many make great points are misunderstood or misinterpreted. Like anywhere else, there are reactionaries here too.

Listen to all the people here, not just those who have ID's with three or four digits. As I said before, the community is large and varied. Some people with a five digit ID may have way more insight than someone with a three digit ID.

Don't be surprised to find those here that like to win the battles while losing the war. They are worth a listen, but don't pull your hair our even though you may want to.

Read the comments to this post and/or my ratings. All things being normal, I may get flamed and down-rated...and that's okay. We here at DailyKos at least are ALLOWED to express ourselves uncensored, unlike those other blogs...LOL!

Yesterday's post was incredible, congratulations you guys on putting the bug in his ear. But the thank you, oh my, that is pure class. What an amazing human being. And I love how he handles the slings and arrows, just like he did in Iowa, come to think of it. :)

7. Hey, just like blm, thank you.
Again, my dear lady, we didn't go to Boston alone and we didn't say anthing that wouldn't be deeply familiar to anyone in this forum. I am humbled beyond words that this has worked out well. (God, I sweated blood that night thinking I was going to make an idiot of myself. Thank goodness Rox and the others were there to actually 'speak truth to power' and discuss this stuff with JK. Thank God.)

And you know we love you and your wonderful, hearty, passionate and heartfelt discussions in here. Again, anyone who went to Boston, did not go alone. You guys were with us every step of the way.

That's for sure, based on the response. I think there was far too much of that loony blogger stuff going around and I know you guys stamped that idea right out of his mind. I'm proud to be a part of a group of such classy individuals and I'm sure that he had you guys in mind when he wrote his post, which helped him to know just what to say and how to say it.

13. I didn't know how to do links for a long time either and then I didn't
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 06:56 PM by Pirate Smile
know how to do photo's for a long time after that.

Here you go - links are actually pretty easy - just copy the "Address" for the web site/article by highlighting it and then doing Control (ctrl on your keyboard) C to copy. Paste it into the message on DU by doing Control V to paste. It automatically formats it into a link.

You do the same thing with photos by right clicking on the picture and copying (Control C the "properties" - it will show up after you right-click on top of the photo with your mouse - it is an address like the one listed at the top of the page - ie: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=post&forum=273&topic_id=65433&mesg_id=65452). Then paste it - Control V into the message - it should automatically show up. You can preview your post to see if it shows up - Preview next to "Post Message".

edit to add - I typed that up rather quickly so if any of it is confusing or doesn't work, just ask.

20. Statistics!
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 08:45 PM by ProSense
word counts from 1,800 post:

election mentioned 190 posts (10.5%)
concession/concede(d) mentioned in 25 posts (1.4%)

This is a mix of negative and positive, and not all election mention referred to 2004, some were 2006.

21. wow - where did you get the stats?
Overall, I think it was a great first weekend.

Wondering if it will have any effect on his interview tomorrow AM?
Alot of posters today were asking him to use the word-Lie-Impeach &Fillibuster.

We'll see if he gets it in there. I personally don't want to see him name-calling. John Kerry has too much class for that. But the words can be used in a classy way.

Oh my - if he doesn't, is he going to be bashed at Kos tomorrow?

This is going to be interesting.
You've gotta hand it to him for stepping right into the lion's den.

search and calculator. These are really low numbers, especially the references to concession, less than 1.5%. Those were mostly negative. The election mentions were not all negative, simply wanting Kerry to talk about the stolen election. I'd say from a glance that about 1/4 (50) were election 2006-related and the rest were about the stolen election. Of the remaining 140, about 100 to 125 (5%), were negative in tone, and the rest (25-40) were just expressing disappointment in the results.

Disclaimer: This is based solely on my search skills, and is accurate only to the degree my search was.

23. Although many people asked for those things
Kerry will do what he thinks right - that's what most of us really want him to do.

He has explained very clearly why he doesn't use the word lie - it implies he knows for a fact that they knew otherwise. (I think his insistence on this is great, it does depend on intent.) Pushing him to say a word he is not 100% comfortable with is in contradiction to their calls that he not allow himself to be "handled" - which I think is good advice. (In a way it's funny that the advisor's push that he connect Mary Cheney =gay, would have been avoided if he had stuck with the philosophy on "lie". )

On filibuster, he told Blitzer from Israel that he was going to review the hearing when he got back. I doubt he will jump from that position to leading the filibuster. I would hope that he addresses the division of powers, the signing agreement ok and other things as why he has problems. (Would he be stepping on Kennedy's toes if he said unilaterally that he would lead a filibuster effort?)

Kerry knows how to handle himself. I got a kick out of the numbers because they show that the nastiness is indeed coming from a loud and small minority.

25. I enjoyed those figures too - just a small minority.
All I want from Kerry is to speak from his heart.
Not have anyone putting words in his mouth-
I was just wondering if he will get bashed over there if
he doesn't use the words that so many asked for.

btw - prosense - easy for YOU.
I much prefer stats when other people provide them for me ;)

31. Oh, I expect it
tomorrow too. In fact, it's started: the grandstanding, as they somehow have a better grasp of politics than Kerry. I too am glad blah blah blah....These are not rants, or suggestions or concerns expressed, it's not even advice; they're scolding JK. I say STFU and run for office or cut the grandstanding.

I saw a particular one that p'd me off: I don't give a damn about you...save me.

That's actually sort of funny.

Criticisim is one thing, insults and belittling someone is just nasty. Do they think being nasty and belittling is a catalyst for inspiration? This is the same crap the RW smearers use, but at least I know the RW bastards hate JK. These guys pretend be doing this for the good of the party, with their "it's not about you sir, you suck, just save us" BS. For all I know these people agents of the RW.

26. Wow! Good things come...
to those who wait!

What an exciting day. Two in a row. I've been filling jars all day for an order for a clinet and missed today's excitement. Just finally had a chance to read through the new thread there and the stuff here. Very cool. Very very cool. JK has got the pulse, he can handle it. Always has and always will. Hopefully the doubters will get that now. At least some of them! ;)

27. There is now an anti-thread up and running
This is giving all the anti-Kerry voices a place to post and voice their opinion. Surprisingly, it's not that bad and is still fairly polite. There are still a lot of folks over there who were upset that DKos was removed after Kos' insane rant about the contractors being killed in Iraq and how that thread got him booted from the official Kerry blog. These are touchy people. And a tad hypocritical.

Still, there are about 2000 Kerry posts in less than two days. Wow! I don't think anyone else has ever generated that many posts.

33. You know, a lot of those folks whining will not vote for him in the
primary. But say, Kerry got the nomination, maybe they would be more apt to work hard for him again, remembering that he took the time to listen to them and interact with them.

I did finally post on the second thread (and even gave TV advice!!), but I'm way at the bottom. I also responded to one post, which suggested that he voted for the bankruptcy and tort reform bill and labeled him "anti-progressive" -- if I read something completely false, it definitely pays to correct. I told the idiot to read and learn about BCCI before he starts spreading falsehoods. Anyway, I was VERY late to this game -- if only I had randomly visited dailykos, and saw his diary when it first came up . . . oh well, he knows who we are and that we'll always have his back!
