This is the problem with the DNC .From a DU GD Post.
Thi just called the DNC, and they said they are letting the Senators decide what to s is a perfect example of WHY they are not effective. Sheesh. .

There is not a cohesive message from the DNC to support a filibuster. I told the woman that they do not even have the nomination of Alito as the main topic on their web page. She forwarded me to some guy named Tim who is the blog master for the DNC. I told him that the DNC is in danger of alienating their base, and that the dems need to stand up & filibuster Alito. I spoke as the authority for the web based community which was a bit of a stretch, but for some reason they took it as I was some kind of expert on the blog world's stance....so i went with it. They were asking me what the blogs were saying!!! (They don't follow this stuff???!!!) I told them that the web activists are absolutely perplexed by the dems not filibustering this man, and that the Republicans have already succeeded in 'nuclear optioning the filibuster, since the dems won't use it because of the mere threat'.

Keep calling your Senators. I think they are surprised at the amount of opposition they are seeing.

Don't let up. DON'T GIVE AN INCH. I think they are confused. They were not expecting this much of an outcry.

CALL AND FAX AND WRITE - DON'T GIVE UP!

2. Ahm, call the Sens anyway
I heard that Lincoln Chafee of RI is on the fence on this. I am calling him. (I'm sorry, but I'm not going to call Sens. Kennedy & Kerry. Ahm, I would rather call Chafee and Snowe and Collins. Is that a wise use of my time? I think I already know how Sen.s Kennedy & Kerry will vote and it seems like a wasted effort. Anyone thoughts on this?)

Sen. Chafee
United States Senate
141A Russell
Washington, DC 20510
(202) 224-2921

Sen. Snowe
Washington D.C. Office
Mailing Address: 154 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510-1903
Phone Number: (202) 224-5344
Fax Number: (202) 224-1946

Senator Collins
DC Office Information
461 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Phone: (202) 224-2523
Fax: (202) 224-2693

I think these people can be fought and I hope the Dems go for the filibuster. There is no way that Alito belongs on the Supreme Court. The debate in the Senate starts next Wed. This should be a doozy.

6. I have sent Chafee an email
And I have been hounding McCain.
Alito = torture.

To be honest, I don't think
anyone cares. It's all about politics.
If Specter is going to vote for Alito, all the R's will to.
And some of the dems.

8. Maybe. But we have to take a stand
In a sense, the nuclear option has already been detonated. We might as well bring it out into the open. (What are the R's going to do anyway? Call us weak, divisive, unpatriotic obstructionists? Been there, done that, lived through it, still here.)

I want a filibuster attempt to go through. I really do. I think it's the right thing to do now. I just hope that enough of the Dems who voted FOR John Roberts will now take a stand against Alito. It's worth a shot.

13. Call any senator you can!
I agree, Tay Tay -- only good can come from our calling and getting everyone we know to call. I even called the Kennedy and Kerry offices -- I don't think it's a waste of time or effort. It shows them that they have constituent support and I think the best ones keep track of, or at least tally, the calls for and against. I got my mom in California to call both DiFi AND Boxer's offices and my dad in Oregon to call both his senators.

Tomorrow, I'm going to fire off an email to as many of my friends as I can think of asking them to call their senators and get everyone they know to do the same.

I also think it's great if people call senators in other states, especially the moderates you list and thanks for the contact info!!!

It ain't over 'til it's over.

3. Funny
isn't it, how close together the DFA forum is to the Kerry forum that you just happen to click the wrong one and then fell right into a thread mentioning the DNC, hmmmm.

Just love the feel of someone looking over my shoulder. :sarcasm:

I called my Senators, Warner and Allen, what was I thinking.

5. Ahm, I think there was an apology
and then no comment of note. Everyone makes mistakes. (I have responded to the wrong threads before.) Ahm, I'm a little lost on this one. Let it go.

Good for calling Warner and (arrrrrgggghhhh) Allen. (You must have a very strong stomach. I can't even imagine calling Allen. I think of him as the anti-Kerry.)

What did they say, just for shits and giggles?

edited to add: I also contacted Lautenberg. Lott's e-mail came back undeliverable, so I think I'll try faxing now.

7. Isn't that funny - I got the same response from McCain.
It must be the generic senator message that they send out
when they don't want to read your email.

Once upon a time, like a year ago, I used to actually get letters from McCain.
Now all I get is the generic message. Hmmm - you think he is sick of me?
Oh well... just wait till he runs for President against Kerry. He'll probably have me
blackballed.

9. Specter and Santorum, yep, there my guys. I e-mailed both, not
because I will be able to change their minds, but just to let them know I don't agree with them on Alito and to ask for assurances from them that my concerns over Alito are nothing to worry about. When and if Alito screws us in favor of Bush, I want the both of them held accountable.
